It is not that hard to just keep the claws trimmed so that they are not too sharp.

Yes, indeed. Good thing this one was lucky. :)

Better to go the whole way and liberate 'em to somewhere safer than, say, off a cliff, or down a volcano.

Wait, trimmed claws? Ugh, they need those! If you're getting scratched, it's you who's doing something wrong.

My ginger cat seems to think it's a dog, because it completely ignores the catflap and instead runs to the front door and starts scraping at it like a dog.

He can do it for up to half an hour before he gives up.

Seriously, I'm sad enough to count.

You sick bastard…
Ha ha ha ha

Let me see if I have this right.

You found a cat, it was on some guy's trailer, then you threw the cat into the woods.

No wait I got it, you found it literally in some bushes and now you feed it and stuff.

We found a stray cat once, took it to the pound, I think it's alright, 90% chance it got lethal injection though, it was kind of ugly and like not a kitten. I'm kidding

Our local shelter has a no-kill policy. They have a lot of cats.

They grow back; I trim my nails too. If you don't trim a cat's nails it will file them down itself. On your furniture.

My cats seem to enjoy "filing" their claws on various random bits of paper and card.

They also enjoy brushing their teeth on them.

Actually, the correct word is "stropping". Clipping their claws isn't really the same as clipping your nails, but I don't see a problem with it, as long as they're not outdoor cats. Outdoor cats need their weapons.

The only cat that isn't an outdoor cat in my house uses his claws for climbing, and considering how small he is, he needs those.

Do you seriously think it is unethical to dull an indoor cat's nails occasionally?

Nope. Unnecessary, yes, unethical, no.
