Doukutsu - Cave Story

Post by Blorx » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:59 am

Anyone else ever played? It's a pretty good Japanese 2D platformer but, as all good Japanese games do, it has a translation patch. Here's the link to the English fan site. Check it out! All info needed is on the site.

Yes, I played it Though to then end.
Very short, but good game.

This game should be required playing for any video game enthusiast. I highly recommend it to everyone here. I think I may have to find my saved game and try to finally finish the alternative ending (damn, that is a frustrating level!)

While I like that style of game, I'm usually not very good at it. I played through Doukutsu Monogatari and slaughtered it all with ease, almost never dying...so I thought, "Wow, I _am_ good at this! In fact, I pwn!"

Then I got to Hell. 'Nuff said. I can't count the number of tries that took. Quite a difficulty gap between running Hell and playing the rest of the game.

Also, the game's soundtrack is quite good.

What a spectacular game. It doesn't do anything too ridiculous or innovative, it's just a bunch of tried-and-true gameplay elements brought together fantastically.

Some dude's doing a PSP port:

I've heard of this so many times.

So why haven't I played it yet?
