Hey, I'm back after a small hiatus... And guess what? I'm learning programming xD I found a book today while shopping titled "Game Programming For Teens" which teaches people to program using the Blitz programming language. It's not much (you could say it's pretty BASIC ) but it's a start. Once I've gotten comfortable with Blitz (and maybe even made a game or two) I'll probably move it up a gear and start on C++ (which I have also acquired a book about ^_^). At the moment though I'd mostly be concentrating on 2D games, because to be honest I couldn't even dream of affording all that 3D modelling software just to learn how to make a game xD

Incidentally, at the moment I'm using a BlitzPlus demo provided with the Game Programming for Teens book. What would you suggest I purchase once the 30-day trial's expired? I was thinking maybe getting BlitzMAX because that supports Mac and Linux as well as Windows which means I'd be able to distribute my little game projects to everyone on this forum ^^

You can always use Blender for the modeling needed for 3D games. Meshwork also works, but it's a little crappy. Personally I prefer it to Blender though, as I can't really find my way around Blender's interface.

I can tell it's not made by Mac fans.

I'll have to think about it. However, at the moment I think I'll stick with 2D sprite games (I'll probably try making my own one after completing the book I'm reading.) That and I've always wanted to make a sidescrolling shooter like Metal Slug xD
