Christmas mod ideas for OG!

Post by Endoperez » Thu Nov 20, 2014 5:13 pm

Thanks for the idea Korban!

So... What simple props would fit a Christmas themed OG mod? I made a few candy cane themed props two years ago, I think. Hats with jiggle bones might work this time around.

New character would totally be too much work.

Any suggestions? Weapon, building, environment props? Silly special game mode?

A Christmas Tree for starters, would it be possible to decorate an existing tree model? I am no modder so I have NO clue as to what resources are available to you guys as of now.

Perhaps a crucified wolf?

The previous candy cane weapons on SPF.

Any ideas what the new ones would be? Candy cane winged spear? Huh.

Crucified wolf isn't festive, IMO.

You're right, that would be more appropriate for Easter.

What about an Arena mod?

It will be totally unbalanced, but it would be neat if you could get a weapon after every 5 wins. Maybe you could also get some sort of damage/mobility buff after every 10?

Sorry, but the last scripting mod for the Arena I was working on didn't turn out well. I'll pass.

Candy cane rapier. Dueling your enemies with candy is of the utmost importance.

Concept nr. 1:
Carved from a candy-stalagmite, with a wide base and sharp point, with a straight back and nice curving edge side. Seen from the side it isn't too unlike this war scythe's blade. The back edge would be straight and not curved though.

Image

Concept nr 2:
Imagine an emerald lollipop sphere with a steel stick. The lollipop is carved out so the user can insert his hand and grab the steel handle inside. It's a wide opening so the wrist can move freely, but closed towards the enemy.

The blade is the stick, a hollow steel rod, sawed through in a sharp angle to create a point and a small edge.

A knife that looks like a Christmas tree? A santa beard to go with the hats (possible to even make?) Elf shoes? A snowball weapon? Possibly a snowball fight level to go with the snowballs?

Sorry if these ideas suck, I came up with them in around five minutes while extremely tired... I'm just in a silly Christmass-y mood right now.

I know you said it would be waaaay too much work to make a new character model, but I think we can all agree that playing as a reindeer holding a broadsword would be awesome.

RagdollZombie's santa mod inspired me to get back to this! I made some sketches for what the sugar-stalagmite sword might look like.

I like number 8 the most, which is why I put more detail into that one. It's very thing at the top, though, and if I go too thin in the model it will look too fragile in OG and you won't be able to see it well. Blade shapes 3 and 9 also work well IMO, I'll probably use 9's thicker point on the model.
