wow...yeah, hey guys...sorry things have been keeping me busy...mainly my band is just officially getting started so i've been even more busy with that than with school

He was simply expressing a desire to emulate the Monty Python quoting with a version of quoting he is familiar with, i.e. song lyrics since he is in a band.
