Hm.. Adventure game.. Adventure game....

...That's odd. I'm not playing any adventure games right now.

Weird. I guess if I had to mention one, I'd go for Day of the Tentacle. Probably the only Lucas Art adventure game that I've beaten. It was all so wacky. :D

Oh no. Nonononoooo...

It was about an evil tentacle that drank some weird water, then the tentacle grew arms. So you and your friends have to go back in time using badly made time machines, that end up sending your friends to different time periods. So you needed to solve problems using items from various time periods, and screw up the timeline alot as well.

Sounds a lot like The Lost Vikings 2.

...Good point.

Well in this one they only get reunited at the end, in Lost Vikings they get reunited a few times.

Mist, Riven, and Lost Vikings are not adventure games, they are puzzle games.

The Longest Journey sucked (personal opinion) but the sequel was ok.

Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Loom, Space/Hero/Kings Quest, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis are adventure games, and some of the best games ever created from any genre.

PS. Since I know I will anger people with my comment on the longest journey, I will explain why I think it is terrible: Jokes are weak, puzzles are weak, the anticipated dragon battle at the end is weak (they turn into dragons, then fall into a building, and it's over?), story is anti-climactic (the main character just walks away at the end like nothing happened), it takes forever for the bird to fly onto the screen and off again just to say a ridiculous line of dialog that doesn't contribute to the game, there are many races of creatures introduced (some more annoying than others, remember the guy who does not exist in our time and so talks very slowly and repeats himself?) but their existence also does not contribute to the game. There are some good elements to the game, but overall, it was a substantial disappointment.

Has anyone come across the Parrody of Myst called "Pyst"
One of my Distant Relitives was telling me about this game.
It was quite funny for some one who has played myst, it shows the island of myst after 4 million people have walked though the island of Myst, Litter, tagging, broken objects etc.
No challange, but funny...
