MacBook! Yeah! Solid Aluminium! I has one!
Earlier today I just got a MacBook as a sorta late birthday/christmas present sorta thing. It's one of the new aluminium ones with no button (You push down on the trackpad itself instead. Two-finger scrolling is disabled if your finger is in the area where the button would normally be, so you can still do things normally.) and a nickname of "MacBook Brick". It also means that I can use the currently intel-only alpha of OG now. Yaaay. I will say no more about the alpha, 'cause it's secret'n'stuff.
HAPPINESS! YAY!

…anyway, specs are 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory, 162 GBs of HD space… It's pretty awesome. What are you stuck with anyway, Starrz?

Can this computer run OG alpha efficiently? I'm considering getting one myself and want to be sure it'll be workable for this purpose.BunnyWithStick wrote:Earlier today I just got a MacBook as a sorta late birthday/christmas present sorta thing. I used to use an iBook G4, 1.4 Ghz, 1 gig RAM (Upgraded from 500meg or something IIRC) and ATI Radeon nine something or so graphics card with 32meg of video RAM. At some point it's probably going to be wiped and given away, once I copy some things over. (Via AirPort, which is awesome)
The alpha for OG runs fine.

I have just the normal thin, new Mac leapord. I would be totally satisfied, but the things is, this isn't really my computer. Yea, i know. Annoying.BunnyWithStick wrote:

I know the feeling of having to use some one elses computer.
I really wish that some one sold my grandma a Mac, that way she would not have to warry so much about various things on it. I really think a Mac is a good computer for an elderly to learn to use if they are not familiar with a computer.

I agree. When I first had to get used to a Mac for all my schoolwork, i felt quite uneasy about having to learn how to use it, since i've had a Windows my whole life and all.
I learned how to use it in a week. I actually prefer a Mac over a Windows anyday now. Sadly, my dad refuses to buy a Mac. He's a MAC-HATER!!!

Linux ftw.
Meh, I like all three of the major OSes more or less equally. Apparently NetBSD is pretty good as well, but I haven't had time to go and figure it out.
Anyway, congrats on your new MacBook. May it serve you well.
