Are you a furry?

Post by Skofo » Tue Dec 23, 2008 11:21 am

Well, are you?

This has been stirring my curiousity for a while. I don't have anything against furries nor non-furries.

I had a friend that is furry and he had those furry porn all over his computer (Boot screen, login, wallpaper...). It was hard to me to use the computer, lol.

I don't even look at porn and it's not that sort of thing that will make me start looking at it neither, lol XD

gah, i don't exactly condone the use of that stuff to begin with...but on the xbox??

and no, it's not necesarrily about porn. you can be a furry and not have anything to do with porn. it's just a lot of furries are obsessed with furry porn. don't ask, i dunno. i just know what the one dude's told me

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom wrote:Furry fandom (also known as furrydom, furridom, fur fandom or furdom) refers to the fandom for fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics.[1] Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes. Furry fandom is also used to refer to the community of artists, writers, role players and general fans of the furry art forms who gather on the net and at conventions.[2][3]

Characters that morph between human and animal form are also considered by some to be part of the genre. Even certain superheroes with animal derived powers are considered of furry interest by some fans. The general idea being a combination of human and animal attributes, for which there is no documented science regarding what degrees of mixture are required. Even characters like Josie and the Pussycats are considered of interest to furry fandom, though they only wear costumes with animal ears and tails.[4]
I'm guessing that this is a semi-"official" definition. I don't think you don't have to abide to any particular definition to consider yourself a furry, though. If you think you're a furry, you're a furry, as far as I know. In my eyes being a furry is similar to being an anime fan; you don't have to appreciate hentai to be an anime fan, just like you don't have to appreciate anthropomorphic animal sex to be a furry. You can enjoy some animes but you don't have to consider yourself an anime fan, just how you can enjoy some things with anthropomorphic animals but not consider yourself a furry. I may be very wrong about all of this, though, and I'm sorry if I am. This is all open for discussion.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm not going to make anyone follow any strict criteria for this. If you like to consider yourself a furry, then generally I'll assume that you're a furry. Obviously there are many levels of fandom for anything, so if you feel like you should explain how much of a furry or non-furry you are and your reasons behind it, or feel like discussing anything and everything related to this, then by all means do so. :P Furrydom just piques my interest so I made a topic for it.

I'm not but my sister is. Our laptop is disgusting now. Furryness EVERYWHERE. Not really porn but still I don't like seeing fake Sonic the Hedgehog characters making out.

I've drawn furry art before, but let's face it, turning animals into humanized figures has gone on for a long time in art, cartoons, stuffed animals, etc. There's a pretty thick line between someone who doesn't really care / is fine with furries, and a fanboy who encourages and condones furdom at every possible moment.

I doubt there would be many people on this forum who are flat out furries that, in real life, associate themselves with the social group. Chances are most of us have gone as far as maybe art and playing Lugaru :P

Exactly, but unfortunatelty, some people that don't like fanboys generalize on everything that look furry.

Or Morrowind, Oblivion and Wow! XD
I like to play those type of characters, but there's so few games that features that. :(

I'd rather have not told anybody about it, but, I guess it wasn't that hard to figure out. It seems there's so many people I know that despise furries that it's encouraged me to, well, hide the fact *shrug*

Bah, whatever, you guys probably wouldn't care, and that's good...

I think i would be called a furry, though i don't look at porn, furry or otherwise. I just like that Japanese anime, many have great storylines that make the movie/series even more than the animation.

A high IQ doesn't mean that you're all-perceptive and all-knowing. Good job being able to test well, though.
