TheGameHippo

Hey guys, I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but there used to be an old site called GameHippo.com that had a crapload of freeware games. GameHippo used to be the only site I'd go to as a kid and was, at one point, THE premier freeware gaming site. Unfortunately, it shut down a year or so ago and hasn't been up since.

I'm starting a revival site at http://www.TheGameHippo.com and I need feedback and suggestions, as well as a community. If any of you find it worthwhile, please visit the site every now and then and maybe post a thing or two on the forums.

Thanks for the support,
- Sam

Hey, that's neat! I already found games that I've never seen before (BaboViolent 2 looks particularly interesting), and I always love playing fun free games.

I could've sworn that I've seen GameHippo up less than a year ago, though... odd.

Also, two suggestions:
1) Let people know what platforms these games work on.
2) Let the community rate and review as well.

I tried to suggest a game but it gave me an error message, twice.

May I ask what the error was? I was able to send two messages just fine. One with nothing but special characters and the like.

I see they've got Doukutsu (Cave Story) on there...
That confirms awesomeness.
Doukutsu has been marked a 'perfect' game, as anything added or substracted would've lessened it.

Personally, I agree.
It's a rocker, that one. xD

Nevermind. I got an error because I did it wrong.

Ha, Iji was one of the first games I put up (in response to the suggestion). I even suggested it for a game design review by Wolfire a while back.

Some of the games you can save, have save files on them. Just putting that out there.

May I ask which games they are? What usually happens is I'll take an installed game and simply zip the contents up so our users don't have to install it as most don't usually make the system changes necessary to warrant an install.

I told a friend about it, and they said some were like that, and I downloaded Prodigal, which hadd quite a few saves. I'll ask him once he gets on.

Thanks, I'm uploading the fixed Prodigal as I type this. Be sure to let me know if you find any more.
