I'm not sure if anything like this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything.

Inspired by the Johns Computer post on the blog I thought it would be good for everyone to post a photo of their setup.

It would be nice to not just have a list of what your pc is, but also have a photo included with it. If it's anything fancy, all the better. If it isn't, post it anyway :)

I may as well go first.
DSC03384.JPG
This is my laptop which I use as my main computer. It's an Acer Aspire 5920 with the following specs:
  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • Nvidia 8600M 1GB
  • 1GB of Intel Turbo Memory (Can be used as either video or system RAM depending on what is needed most)
  • HD DVD Drive (Obsolite now but I never owned a HD DVD anyway :P)
  • 250GB HDD
  • 15.4 inch widescreen 1280*800
  • HDMI out (that desktop looks amazing on a 42 inch HDTV at 1080 :D)
It is also setup in duel monitor with a 19 inch widescreen Hanns G HW191D which cost me £100. It runs at 1440*900.

Also in the picture are:
  • Creative Fata1ty Headphone (only buy if you like lots of bass)
  • Altec Lansing speakers (DO NOT buy!!! They are so sensitive to interferance that I cant use my waireless around them without hearing the bits flying past me)
  • A few sitepoint books in the top left (these are great if you want to learn anything about web design)
  • My £10 mouse and £5 keyboard :D
Now it's your turn! Post your setup and point out anything of interest that's in your picture :D

I can't recall anything like this in the past, but it's good that you searched first anyway ;)

Wow. A gig? I'm guessing it runs Overgrowth very smoothly 8)

That mouse looks pretty nice for costing ten pounds :D

Also, I notice the Wolfire forums in the shot, very nice touch :)

I'll post a shot of my setup when I get a chance; the lighting is horrible at this time of night and I'm off for a few days on a trip tomorrow :P

In addition I plug in some nice Bose speakers and an Iomega highspeed harddrive for video storage. It's my own little editing station :)

I have an eMac, but I never use it because it has about a kb of ram. It is also the size of a small moon.

Yeah, I have a friend with an eMac. I don't know too much about them. How do they differ from iMacs? Just an older model?

I think they were origionally intended for educational use. Not 100% on that though.

Bit of a bump here, but as I've seen only one occurrence of an (or rather, multiple) Apple 30" Cinema Display tilted vertically, much less with the Wolfire page, I thought you guys might get a kick out of this :)

Image

There's a wall-mounted arm hidden behind the 30", hence the hover over the peripherals :)

The 30" is hooked up to a Power Mac G5 Quad, which sports 6 gigs of RAM, one 750 gig hard drive and a secondary 250 gig, and a GeForce 6600 256 meg graphics card that, despite being a good four years old, still manages to run most games at relatively high resolutions, though nothing at the monitor's native res (2560x1600) :P

Also in the picture are a bunch of things I've acquired over the years:
  • Bluetooth module
  • LaCie 1TB TwoBig
  • Palm Centro
  • Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 headphones
  • SoundSticks and iSub (below the desk)
  • MicFlex
  • iPod classic 160GB
  • Belkin 7-port USB hub
  • Tungsten T3
  • Lexar FireWire CompactFlash card reader
  • Kensington Expert Mouse trackball
  • Razer Pro 1.6, now unplugged in favor of the Kensington
Also, those sunglasses are Foakleys, which were bought for just a few dollars a number of years ago :P

That monitor is frickin' awesome :D I've been thinking of how it would be to extend a visual fram vertically instead of horizontally recently.. You just made my day.

Many graphics cards have the option to rotate the view 90 degreed (and even 180) in either direction. This is why.

Some people just need to be able to work with more vertical space rather than horizontal. My best guess is with people who do a lot of writing or coding (I believe I saw a bit where the developer of Cortex Command was using this configuration)

Your desk is so clean compared to mine =P it looks like one of those cheap ones you would get at Staples or something though.
