New Katana

Post by Lotus Wolf » Wed May 27, 2009 4:06 pm

Hey guys! I just got a new Katana because my old one snapped a few weeks ago in a tournament. These pics look awkward because taking pictures with my webcam IS awkward. XD

Image
Cotton wrapped Tsuka (handle), double pegged.
Image
Nicely detailed Tsuba (guard).
Image
Good Kurigata (cord fixture), cotton Sage-o (cord).
Image
Brass Habaki (blade collar), and 1045 carbon steel blade (perfect for swords).
Image
Closeup of the Hamon (temper and blade line).
Image
Hard to see, but there's a dragon crest under the cotton wrap.
Image
Really good feel.

Just thought I'd share this with you guys.

LOL! Level 21! XD

Yes I fight, mostly in locally hosted tournaments for little more than respect (sometimes a small cash prize, but never anything awesome). A few weeks ago I fought in a more serious tournament (still local, but there were some new people) and did pretty well but couldn't win since my old Katana snapped. That was very disappointing because it was in the semifinal match... Anyways, just thought I'd share something cool with you guys.

Around $60.

I was a bit skeptical at first when I looked at the specs and the price, but it's a really good blade.

Because, about two years ago I was learning how to use them. I was using a wooden Katana and managed to hit my friend in the face, and dislocate my instructors thump all within then seconds.

I swung back and hit my friend, then hit my instructor in the hand.

hey. it takes time to learn the art form of using a katana :) you cant just swing it wildly around but because of an accident you dont just have to throw it all away, bo-kens are a good way to start. if you are into sport why not joining up on a kendo team ? thats realy funny i tell you xD

Well my good sir, I'm too busy. Between Homework, school, personal life, sports, etc, I don't have enough time. For example, because of those things I've stayed up till two in the morning for the past three weeks. As a result of that I'm asleep during the day, and completely awake during the night.
