Rich or Hero

If you had a choice between one million dollars or save the life of a dying child that did not belong to you what would you pick? you can only pick one!

belong to me? no one belongs to another person, if you mean that wasn't a family member or related to anyone that I knew then I wouldn't save it, it would be just another death in the world. if it did then saving it would depend greatly on what would happen to me in consequence, i.e. I have to give my liver to save it, I think I'll keep my liver regardless, or if it's no consequences I might consider saving the child but I doubt it, a million dollars would be extremely useful to me.

No. you do not know the kid but you can save his life or just let him die by going with the cash.

I choose neither, he dies, and I don't accept the cash.

I think it would depend a lot on the situation. In one situation, the question could be rephrased, "Would you kill a child for a million dollars?" I certainly wouldn't do that, there is no amount of money that would get me to murder children. On the other hand, maybe I worked all my life to save a million dollars, and now the question is, "Would you spend that million dollars to cure one child of a disease?" I wouldn't do that either -- if I wanted to save children I could do it more efficiently in other ways.

It would depend on the situation.

If someone pulled out a bag of cash and a gun and said, "Here's a million bucks, but if you take it, I'm gonna shoot that kid over there," then I would save the kid.
Then I'd probably spend the rest of the day mournfully writing a list of what I could have done with a million dollars.

I could never kill someone because then I'd have to kill myself, but people die all the time so if they're not close enough and I don't know them it's hard to feel emotion for it. A million dollars wouldn't make me happy? What's a million dollars if you don't really know if your friends are actually your friends. It's the people who are still there when you're a poor useless cunt that are really your friends.

However, to answer the question in a less roundabout way, I wouldn't take a million dollars if the result was the death of a healthy child who would go on to live a nice life.

On the other hand, if the child had some kind of crippling illness that meant he wouldn't live much longer anyway, and whatever little time he has left is going to be harrowing and painful, then wouldn't him dying be some form of mercy to him?

Why would you have to kill yourself?

Honour, honesty and bravery.

Or maybe a self-amputee fetish.

Because the knowledge that I directly ended someone's life myself would be too much shit to carry and the guilt would crush me. I'd hate myself. I'm sure if you killed someone your whole life would be scarred by it too. Even if you don't hate yourself, everyone else would hate you so you wouldn't have to. It might sound rash, but that's just how it would be for me. I'm not saying anyone who accidentally kills someone should die themselves, that's not what I mean at all.

Huh. I'm not quite sure how to put this...

Suffice to say, it seems that you are very, very different to me.
