BEST freeware fighting game ever? (Vanguard Princess)
BEST freeware fighting game ever? (Vanguard Princess)
Vanguard Princess!
It was recently released by Sugeno Tomoaki, a former Capcom artist. The 2D art is the best I have ever seen in a freeware game. The music is awesome, and it's pretty damn fun to play, too! It has modern 2D fighting game graphics, yet has the sweet old-school fighter gameplay where you couldn't cancel into a Shoryuken and do wicked broken combos.

Since this was made with Enterbrain's Fighter Maker, which is nearly 10 years old, and since this is Japanese, it's tough getting it to run on newer and non-Japanese systems. Here are some things people have come up with to run this when they had trouble:
[*]Install Japanese language support.[/*]
[*]Rename the directories, the exe file and the kgt file to names with Latin characters.[/*]
[*]Run the game through Microsoft AppLocale.[/*]
[*]Run the game through this launcher: http://download452.mediafire.com/wb5tcl ... 6_BETA.rar[/*]
(Weird, bullets don't appear to work.)
I got the game to run on Windows 7 and on Wine through combinations of these methods.
Have fun!

...and what prevents you from getting an emulator that can run something like Tekken or Street Fighter for free?

1. The art for this game looks rather questionable. Not that I'm complaining. Quite the opposite. *peers down at pants*
2. This was made in Fighter Maker? Sweet merciful crap!

lol easy now, it's just a freeware game about catfights, nothing to get worked up about.

Now then before you scroll down, imagine someone with Percy's face saying the rest of this post in a creepy manner.

Maybe not for you. You just got to get into it. It helps to have no pants on. lol. But of course there are some of us who don't want to get "worked up by it". Excuse my racial use of the Lambark accent.Renegade_Turner wrote:lol easy now, it's just a freeware game about catfights, nothing to get worked up about.

Hum... no thanks. I already have Dead or Alive if I really want to play that type of game, even if I rarely play fighting games. Even less often for that type of game (which is close to never)
Re: BEST freeware fighting game ever? (Vanguard Princess)
You didn't say that you "can't" play, you said that you "don't" play, meaning that you damn well know that exes work on your computer but refuse to play a perfectly fine game that's in exe form out of NIH.Jendraz wrote:I will as soon as the games begin to work on my computerSkofo wrote:Oh get over yourself.Jendraz wrote:.exe = i dont play.

Somehow I find that this Not Invented Here syndrome has no correlation whatsoever to a refusal to operate executable programs.Skofo wrote:you damn well know that exes work on your computer but refuse to play a perfectly fine game that's in exe form out of NIH.
Huh? No one said that. No one says that.Untadaike wrote:"worked up by it".

Refuse to play a computer game? You're getting much too bothered over this, relax. I'm sorry I implied snobbery in my comment. Can we be internet friends?Skofo wrote: You didn't say that you "can't" play, you said that you "don't" play, meaning that you damn well know that exes work on your computer but refuse to play a perfectly fine game that's in exe form out of NIH.
