Hello,
Recently a new computer was purchased for my private use. yay for me, but I would just like to know if it is actually any good before i start buying games. I have no idea what ram etc means in relation to playing games etc...i just know if the game works or if it doesn't. So if someone could give me an idea on how compitent my system is that would be greatly appreciated.

Windows Vista Home Premium
Pentium Dual Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz
4.00GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9500 GS
32 Bit operating system

Sounds pretty good to me...but thats just cause those words are pretty cool sounding. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it looks alright for the most part. But if you're planning on doing any gaming, the Nvidia Geforce 9500 GS is not a very good choice. Look into something a bit better.

sounds about the same as mine you shouldn't really have any problems. I think I have a better processor but other then that they're basically the same.

Windows 32-bit can't recognize more than about 3 gigs of ram, so you might want to look into getting 64-bit, and for the graphics card, I would go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150316 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150329, both come with two free games, and xfx is really the best brand to buy from in terms of video cards, nice warranty, and always give you at least one free game. the 260 is the best price/performance ratio card out right now, but if it's too expensive, the 9800 is a very nice one too

While that is how it should be, I had 32-bit with my system to begin with, and it showed up as 3.4 gigs in task manager, and after talking to a couple of other people, they had this problem as well, I don't know why.

It has to do with the fact that the system is 32bit, and so is limited to 32-bit addressing of the memory.

All the memory in the pc has to be addressed within a space of 4GiB (the maximum space that can be addressed with 32 bits).
Not only the RAM, but also the videocard-memory, cpu-caches, etcetera have to fit in this space. For this reason Windows can't completely use all the 4GiB RAM you have, because some there is not enough space: other components in your system are taking up this space.

That's basically the problem. (I know, there are alot of other factors, but let's just keep it simple, shall we?)

Some of them I make up myself, others I hear and if I like them, they're added to the list. Then some scripts I've written myself pick one at random from that list, and add them + rest of the sig automatically to my posts.

Currently I'm posting with Portable Firefox from my USB, so I've only got one outdated list with me.
Luckily, I'm rewriting my entire website (it now exists of about 200 separate systems/scripts working on the same host, so I figured I should write my own CMS and put everything together), and I'll put the entire quote database online so I have access to it anywhere. I'll write an GUI for it, too, so I'll link it from here once I'm done programming.
