What if MMOs were...backwards?

It's like an MMO, real-time combat (no auto-attack bs) where you play as the creatures and fight the people.

That's all I've got so far...

I mean would you play something like that?

So instead of playing as humans and dwarves and elves, you'd be like this wild band of monsters that go raid the "good guys"? That soumds awesome! You could play an orc or a goblin or some kind of undead monster, or a giant or an animal monster... Well, perhaps not the last two. The developers would probably only let you play humanoids. :( There'd probably be emo-elves who look like badly done vampires, and some kind of undead necromancers. Actually, it's starting to feel somewhat generic now, almost if I have already seen it somewhere... :roll: :lol:



Yeah, the idea has been there fora while, but not implemented as I think you meant. I don't think it'd be easy to make it feel different. Left4Dead MMO?

When I read the title I thought you meant levelling down.

Maybe if you had to set up the dungeons and move the- No wait that's already been done Dungeon master. D:

Maybe when you killed players you could steal their loot, and then when players kill you, the loot you have is the loot they earn.

Almost right. Dungeon Keepers (and later Evil Genius) are the make-your-own-hero-proof-dungeon games. Dungeon Keeper games had a fantastic sense of humour. I have never actually seen it, but I believe the game would use your printer to "fax a message" from an enemy in one level. That would be freaky if it happened out of the blue!

Hell yeah. You start as a lower level monster (worm, rat, whatever) and slowly level up with the humans you fight. You can't expect to kill readily, after all, so maybe like an instant level if you're able to slaughter a human and small amounts of XP, EXP, points, whatever you want to call them, whenever you attack successfully.

Or it could be entirely skill-based since we're already using a non-auto-attack combat system. That way, there'd be the whole tactical decision behind each kill. Without levels as guidelines, You'd have to pick and choose each fight carefully. Not only that but without levels determining who's stronger, you could possibly defeat a much more powerful character due to the fact that attacks made are based on the players skill and whereas monsters may or may not have a readily able parry ability, I'm sure they could have a readily able dodge ability of some sort.

Maybe something like the Aliens from Tremulous.

For those who haven't played it, the aliens choose from two forms at the start, Dretch and Granger (Granger is builder, ignore Granger for now) and the Dretch is basically a tiny spider that can climb on walls but dies really easily. If it manages to kill a human, it gets an evolution point, and it can use the point to evolve into something bigger.

If it dies, it doesn't loose an Evolution point, but at the same time, if it dies while in a bigger form it doesn't get the evolution points back.

Something along those lines could work. Choosing a stronger form would be risky because if you died, you'd loose all of the points you spent getting it and you'd be stuck with a weaker form, and at the same time, staying in the weaker form to save up points would get you killed while the stronger guys take all of the kills.

But again, just like Tremulous, the weaker forms should be much smaller and more agile than the bigger forms, allowing weaker players to scout or sneak around or something like that.

Essentially a big form can't dodge, but doesn't need to because of lots of HP, whereas a smaller form can dodge and climb around on walls and stuff to avoid getting hit.

Aww I miss Tremulus now, awesome game. I would get it again but my laptop mouse thing is lost in my sisters toxic room. Rest in piece :(
