8-bit MMO?!
So everyone complains about graphics. Well, what about text-based games? No graphics. No one ever complains. They just say that it's not their type.
Well, I'm gonna ask. If someone made an 8-bit MMO (Atari/NES/etc) would you play it?
It'd be stylized of course, but you get the point.
I would. It would be interesting. ^_^
EDIT: Lol wut? It posted twice >.>

Depends on the gameplay, of course XP

Re: 8-bit MMO?!
I'm kind of curious as to how it would play out though. I kinda wanna draw up a design document just to see if it would be fun.
I just thought it would be cool because the first thing I imagined when I thought of it was simplistic different colored objects and players running around a black background and everything having a trailing blur behind it as the player moves around. Looks kinda BA in my head.
Of course, some buzzkill would call it too trippy. =P

Perhaps a game like that could focus on something other than being an endless grindfest,
and have engaging gameplay.
Like a Massively Multiplayer Platforming Game. That would be swell!

Yeah, that could be pretty awesome. A game like that could be a grindfest and no one would complain. =D
It'd have to have arcade-style gameplay, but it would work.

I'd still play WoW even if it had the graphics of runescape or CC.

Want an Earth Eternal Closed Beta account then? It plays just like WoW except you can refashion armor to make it look like different armor, if the armor that's better doesn't look the way you like and the old armor does. It also will soon have groves, which are your own area to terraform, build and place foliage however you want. Did I mention there are 22 races?MONKEYZ RULE wrote:I'd still play WoW even if it had the graphics of runescape or CC.
Okay, back on topic. Still think it would be a BA experience.

And anyone who complained about graphics would be punchfaced.

Yeah. Still can't believe people trash games with less than life-like or anime-like graphics. It's kind of pathetic. There are plenty of engaging games WITHOUT graphics. Why can't a game be engaging and not need a supercomputer to play?
Re: 8-bit MMO?!
8-bit? pfft, I insist on EGA graphics, minimum.
Seriously though, it could work, if you went about it the right way - although you'd be limited to a top-down view, unless you did something weird where you had 3d models, but filtered into an 8-bit format.
