looking for programs to do stuff??

Post by zoidberg rules » Sat Sep 05, 2009 12:21 pm

right, my mother is getting slightly obsessed with something here, there is a pic of her on our pc, but the lighting in the pic is giving her hugely dark jowels and i need to get a free program that can take thoses out quickly, easily, effectively and with the minimum of fuss so that she can use them as a facebook profile picture

HELP PLEASE

Looking for programs to do stuff?
Aren't we all, my friend.
Aren't we all.

Anyway, you could get The Gimp. If you've used photoshop you'll probably know what to do. Configure the brightness/contrast or something.

Just retake the picture? That seems like the obvious solution. If it still looks bad, take it from a slightly higher angle than eye level. That usually gives the best pictures for faces.

Otherwise, you have two options:

1. Paint.NET - Very easy to use, and has enough features to quick touch-ups when necessary. Depending on what you really need, however, it might not have enough tools for your uses.

2. GIMP - Much more difficult to learn. Similar to photoshop, but more "hacky" so some of the tools are a bit unintuitive. It has many, many tools though as well as downloadable databases of tools that people have created. Look for tutorials online.

I've worked with Gimp. I've had no trouble with it.
