Mac Help?

Post by Ac30 » Sun Jan 10, 2010 11:42 pm

Hey guys,
When I start to play a game in fullscreen mode on my macbook (the shitty white one) I get annoying black sidebars on the side on my screen and it's starting to annoy me. I looked on google but no answers came up. anyone know a solution?
Thanks

Its one of those "wide screen" macbooks right? Try changing the resolution options in the game to a wide screen option or see if it gives you an option for custom resolution settings (for example on some games i have to set it to a rather weird resolution of "1280x854" if I want the entire screen on my G4 Powerbook). If its an older game, or it doesn't support wide screen, then you're shit out of luck.

I'm trying to play a Half-Life 2 port and so far the only resolutions are 800 x 600 and 1024 x 76something. Should I try and set my native resolution like that?

If the game will only let you play in those resolutions (both of which are 4:3, resulting in the black vertical bars you see), there's probably nothing you can do but ask the developer to support more resolutions (make sure you mention yours!).

Your screen's native resolution is 1280x800 (I think?), and you can't change that. Usually you'll want to keep your computer set to that resolution, so you can use all your pretty pixels with maximum efficiency. :)
