Apple on Intel!!!

I mean, it's not like Lugaru is the most graphics-intensive game on the planet. I'm pretty sure a 4.5ghz Intel thing powering a mac with a crazy <insert future videocard here> and 2gb of ram will have NO problem running it

Intel is getting fed up with Microsoft. Microsoft isn't adventurous, they aren't creative, they don't have what Intel wants, which is demand for extreme ingenuity. Intel looks at Apple, and see's a company that pushes limits, but not only that, they see a company that will allow THEMSELVES to push limits and make some really really nice stuff. Microsoft won't accept any crazy new ideas, but Apple most definately will.

The way I see it, Microsoft NEEDS Apple in order to stay in business. The DOJ would have a field day if suddenly M$ was the only profitable OS maker in town...

If Apple Merged with Microsoft, and Microsoft made a version of Mac OS X run on every computer out there, then Mac OS X crashed, had security problems, etc, Mac fans would not be happy, and would probably somehow get Mac OS X open source, having huge goals, but not enough people or money to get to those goals.
Let Apple continue to make Mac OS X for Macs, and leave Microsoft to make its software for others.

Can you IMAGINE what would happen to OS X if MS was responsible for it? Look at Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, even Longhorn is going to suck. *shudders*

It would be... terrible. Awful. The only benefit I can see is more games, but that is NOT worth it. Just get a PC for gaming... that's what I'll do. I'll use my Macs for everything else

Not for me. When I am getting myself a pc (windows based personal computer) I am only useing it for games. But on my macintosh I will still play games on it.

i don't like intel because of the cunfuzcsling names. pentium 4, zeon, arglashmargenfoksh 3.4, they should just make it an intel 1 ghz processor, or 2.7 ghz processor or w/e

Sure, more descriptive names like "Athlon", "Duron", PPC 603, 604, 7455, 970 are better.

No, this'll be a war because MS and Alienware'll be mad that Macs are taking the Intel processors and MS and Alienware will become one large company called MSAlienware and they'll go over to Apple, each with a breifcase, knock out the guards, drop the breifcase on a desk, pull out and AK-47 and kill them while Apple fights back with rocket launchers and all...Nah, I'm just kiding, but seriously, this is insane...we have to do something to make Apple take time off of it...like hack Safari...never mind...this is just madness...
