Starrz' Video Game
Starrz' Video Game
Hello, peepzorz. I have decided to make a video game. It's going to be an FPS game with a man name Steve who time travels from the dinosaurs to 20000000000000000 A.D. So far, I've come up with some really great models to put in my game. Some are in effect, others aren't.
Here are some samples: This is shirt and head (with complete hair) These are pants This is a gun I made for the starter gun. This a big shotgun you unlock in one of the first levels This a tree for my levels.

Re: Starrz' Video Game
That's pretty high poly count, I bet that tree has like 200,000.

I found a couple more: A monster dinosaur thing. It will look better when it is 100% finished.
I will have two of these under the car model (as wheels) The car model This is one of the numbers for the levels. These are especially hard to make. More to come! :3 -

It's probably more around 1000.Raneman wrote:That's pretty high poly count, I bet that tree has like 200,000.
Though I would watch out with poly counts, I think a few of those like the monster thing could definitely be optimized.
What program exactly are you using? It seems like a lot of the models have obvious un-eveness that wouldn't have shown up if you had hand-modeled them by hand in something like blender.
Re: Starrz' Video Game
I am using a program called "Aerieans Model ver 3.5"
I forgot where I downloaded it. It took forever for me to find it.

Alright. But how does it work? It seems like it's almost trying to match the vertices to a shape.
If you had modeled it by hand, I doubt you would have placed the vertices with them crossing over in such a dramatic way. For car tires, they aren't very round.

Re: Starrz' Video Game
This kind of 2D-drawn-3D art style could be very interesting if done well.
Have you planned on what kind of engine you'll be using? Unity3D is free, and there are tutorials and examples for both 3D and 2D games. You need to do some scripting to get things working like you want to.
Unreal engine, at least some version of it, is also free these days, and since it's an FPS engine it should be rather easy to build an FPS game on top of it.
If you are only interested in modeling for the game, you should practice modeling.
Usually I'd advice you to try Blender, but it's in the middle of a huge change. The new 2.5 is currently in Alpha phase, and the user interface has been completely redone. I haven't had time to get to know it myself, so I can't help with it at all; however, I can't recommend learning to use Blender 2.49 either, because it's going to be outdated so quickly.
Any way, here are two guys who also want to learn to make games:

I changed my mind. I can't animate or draw worth a crap. Good day.

If you change your mind again, look up Betty Edwards' book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Taught me a lot few years back when I started learning to draw.Starrz wrote:I changed my mind. I can't animate or draw worth a crap. Good day.
