A Formal Apology

Post by Armored Wolf » Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:32 am

Here is a formal apology for the roadkill picture. It received a better response-- oops, I mean worse response-- than I was expecting, and therefore I have removed it. It went over very well-- oops, I mean badly and I shall not do it again.

This really needed its own thread.

It's kind of strange you know. The porn is still there...

Hahaha. I didn't catch that bit. However, it's more nude modelling than porn. In fairness, though, are you going to argue that roadkill is something more appropriate to show a picture of than nudity is? At least nudity brings some form of appreciation from most people, unless said person is fat and unhealthy-looking.

I admit there probably are some people who have a thing for fat and unhealthy people, but that's another matter.

I also admit there probably are some people who appreciate roadkill, but I can't legislate for redneck Americans.

Oh I never implied, that the road kill wasn't offensive and the porn is not more pleasant to look at. What I thought was, in the end it just was a dead dog after all.

Ezackly, it was just a dead dog. That's why I had enough guts to post the image in the first place and look at it without barfing over my laptop. The response I got was actually unexpected, I expected the response I got LAST TIME I posted a picture of roadkill

which I subsequently ignored. Instead, some person edited my post and removed the image, and then I edited it and pulled off the link (maybe I should add it back.)

That's irony.

I'd say its was a little more gruesome than that ...

But really looking at pictures of dead pets/people will never be as socially acceptable as showing dead wildlife (but is showing dead wildlife socially acceptable either?) simply because we have more emotional attachment to those creatures ...

I can tell you, the time I ran over one of my kittens I almost puked as i saw it convulsing on the ground in my rear view mirror and I definitely felt horrible ... but its a different story when I hit a bird or raccoon or something else while driving ...

I converted it into a link because someone complained.
I would have done the same for the "pornographic" pics, but no one has complained.

Feel free to restore it as a link. It wasn't particularly gruesome - I mean, I've seen similar things driving around town, and worse things in dreams.

Could someone please link the infamous image?

I am curious as to what all the fuss is about.
