Re: iPad
You are in risk of violating Rule #8 of the Wolfire Forums, set down by hdlsa the fruit salad on May 31th, 2005.
But anyway, I'm trying to decide if it really fills the slot between the MacBooks and the iPods.

Re: iPad
I think it is awesome and will be getting one ASAP. The thing that is most exciting to me is the fact that it is the most awesome HTML5 platform available.
That is, its browser is powered by WebKit, the same layer we use for the UI in Overgrowth. I can whip up full screen apps super fast and run them on the iPad via the browser.

Re: iPad
Do you mean this?
On a more serious note, I am not really interested in it. The main application will be to read/watch media, I guess, basically a more capable eBookReader? I am not so sure it will work out. But that is coming from someone whose cell phone is 7 years old.

Re: iPad
Interesting concept. Rather impressive technology. I just can't help but think that there is some wasted potential... They finally release this powerful hand-held device... 1GHz processor... Nice big screen... And it's still running a dumbed-down mobile OS?
It just seems like an iPod Touch that you can't fit in your pocket.
Another thing that confuses me. They go out of their way to stick a camera into the iPod Nano, but there's no camera on this?

Re: iPad
I really don't see any reason to get one. I mean, it's literally just an iTouch with a bigger screen and a few upgraded specs.
Plus, if it's trying to fill the void between Netbook and phone, the lack of flash is a real bummer. I really don't see a reason to use it over my netbook though.

Re: iPad
Everything about the specs speaks of a newer design being released in about a year, so everyone can 'ooh' and 'ahh' over the improvements they should have implemented in the first one.
Does anyone know if it can copy and paste?

I'd assume so. It's basically the same OS as the iTouch.Uberbeard wrote:Does anyone know if it can copy and paste?

Keeping in mind that only got copy and paste in the last iteration!
Hahahahaha, Steve Jobs.
Thank you for that.

Even though I couldn't buy one, the lack of flash makes me dislike it.

Re: iPad
Eh. Looks like a touch-screen Macintosh, or an enlarged iPhone/iPod Touch.
While I'm sure some people have exciting new things to try with this "HTML5 platform", there's nothing extra I can really get out of it, and I'm afraid only a small clique (maybe a few million?) world-wide will really be able to use the iPad to its full extent.
tldr: Shiny, don't really need it.
