I've underlined the games which I have played in your post, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed, but the difference between those games and Myst is SHIT HAPPENS IN THEM. Also, someone could love a game where you walk around a house watching paint dry, and you could say "Different strokes for different folks" but that's not a very good objective justification for playing it, now is it?

If you're going to defend games like the Myst series, you're going to have to accept my conjecture about them.
That's like saying to a person who's against child pornography "If you don't like it then don't watch it!" I'm standing up for the greater good here, and crusading against the child pornography-like entertainment which Myst encompasses. Hahaha.
