Steam on the Mac
Valve has sent different Mac websites different teasers, each with their characters in old and new Mac advertisements.

It's not confirmed, and saying it is should earn you an instant beating. Anyways I've already got CSS and HL2 running NATIVE on my mac, and I know for a fact that L4D has a mac port as well. The legality of these ports is in question however.

I don't know, the images seem to heavily suggest that Steam and most of the Orange Box is coming to the Mac platform.

Either Steam is coming to Mac or someone's pulling one hell of an elaborate prank.

Confirmed? No, but let's see what we've got:
• The last beta for the windows steam client included mac-style icons with titles containing "OSX". [link]
• The same beta also included Mac OS X-like menu definitions and strings that suggest support for multiple platforms:
Code: Select all
steam_welcomeaction_platformwrong" "%gamename% is not available on your current platform.
• Valve is strongly recruiting Mac and Linux engineers [also see above]
• The latest portal update included a scrambled audio file that was a recording of Justin Long (yes, the 'mac' guy from those annoying commercials) saying "I'm a Mac", backmasked with a WW2 era japanese encryption code. [link]
• The teaser images were sent from valve email addresses to various technology news sites. [link]
I dunno about you, but to me these hints are about as subtle as a brick to the head.
Oh and isn't GDC this week? It's probably just a coincidence... yeah...

Re: Steam on the Mac
Completely unexpectedly, today Valve officially announced that they would release the steam client as well as the source engine, including Valve's lineup of source-based games for Mac in April. [ link ]

Re: Steam on the Mac
From what I've read, nope.
Re: Steam on the Mac
Yeah, they seem pretty clear on wanting to allow you to only have to buy a game once, and then have access on both mac and pc. It wouldn't be very popular if they made you buy games again that you already owned but are just running through bootcamp.
As a random side note, this seems like an awesome win not only for macs but openGL as well, as the source engine will be running natively under openGL for mac.

Plus, Mac users and PC users will get to use the same servers. Now if we could only play with the console-tards as well - I'd love to beat the snot out of them.
