Splinter Cell: Conviction

Post by Dudeman » Mon Apr 26, 2010 5:53 pm

No, no long ass review. Just simply asking if anyone else has this game, if so, hit me up, I'm always looking for someone to play co-op or face-off with. GT is Datashocker.

Since I don't like how Ubisoft treat their community (regarding DRM), I have commenced a slight boycott against them, for now. Perhaps I will download "Splinter Cell: Convictions" ones someone has cracked it, but I won't go further than that.

However, I will purchase the "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands" game for the 360, coming out this May, but only because I'm a trusted follower of the series, Splinter Cell is just "meh" in my eyes.

Fair enough, your opinion is shared by many people, so I wont challenge it.

You could just get Conviction for 360 and not have to worry about the DRM.

and i never knew they were bringing out another PoP game? i might get that too if i gots the cash, still, i never got the most recent PoP, and i never even played it in the end, but i heard alot of people saying that it was crap compared to the rest so...

It's good, but, well, its not the same as the others. They took it in a new direction. During single player, you can still be stealthy, but it will be a lot harder as they expect you to play it as an action/stealth game. There are times when the game forces an open firefight at you. The co-op missions and most of the deniable ops modes return to the same kind of gameplay as the originals, however, albeit with all the new mechanics (Better cover system, have gun out while moving, ect.). Movement feels a lot more polished in this one as well. I went back to play Chaos Theory, and it just felt kind of clunky in comparison. And, also, as one who likes flashy kills, the hundred or so new cool looking CQC takedowns are much appreciated.

Games for the consoles are often more expensive than for the PC, and I personally think that the stealth kind-of games are better experienced on a PC, hence my decision.

yeah, i like pc gaming, but i cant game on a pc for very long before getting a huge ache in my left hand from all the keyboarding, plus my pc has very little RAM, so i cant game on it anyway :( thats why i usually prefer to game on a console, plus, that way, you got all your buttons in very close reach, like a finger twitch away, so i can play much better on a console, or at least a controller anyway.

EDIT: we need a shoulder shrug smiley

The PC often has a Key-setup that is more configurable than on the consoles.
I played the Bad Company 2 Beta on the 360 and I actually got mad at the game for not letting me set the controls to what I wanted. I later bought the game for the PC, and I am most satisfied.

Maybe it is just me, but I always compare the controls to the ones used in Halo 2, maybe I'm just weird, I dunno. Image

Hehe, no problem. Looking forward to seeing you online, if you have XBL.

Not all Console games are this restrictive. As a great example, Oblivion allowed you to remap each and every action to whichever button you wanted. You could make "attack" be down on the D-Pad. But, yes, sadly most are. I feel like sending a video of someone remapping controls on the X360 version of oblivion to every major producer.

I think it's great with games that aren't that restrictive, it's just that it is my own fault for wanting to stick to a certain controls-layout and not wanting to change.
