Red Dead Redemption

Post by Renegade_Turner » Thu May 13, 2010 8:51 am

So, early reviews have come out for Red Dead Redemption in the US Game Informer, who gave it a 9.75/10 and the UK GamesTM, who gave it a 9/10.

Personally I'm eagerly awaiting this more than any XBox 360/PS3 game at the moment. It looks like it has the potential to keep me going for ages.

I even have the scans of the reviews here which I swiped off some website, for your viewing pleasure.

I'm just itching to be The Man With No Name.

I'm not entirely sure about it, still. I'll have to wait to see what people say after it comes out.

I recall the original being quite fun. It had some nice gunplay and melee combat involved- I can't really think of a game I could compare it to for those of you who haven't played it. Maybe Drake's Fortune, as far as combat mechanics go at least. Story was also pretty good, and I liked how you switched between three main characters each with their own special techniques and whatnot.

I kind of forgot about Red Dead even though I heard about Redemption a while back, so I can't wait to see what comes out of this :3

God, I hope not. GTA4 bored me to all hell.

As would be the obvious comparison which every single gamer, who knows who Rockstar Games are, will make considering it's a sandbox world game..

Here's Angry Joe's video preview of Red Dead Redemption.
This looks extremely interesting. However, because I own neither a 360, PS3, nor a valid installation of Windows, I probably won't be getting this game when it's released, in order to wait for Wine compatibility. I'll almost certainly never get this game if it contains Games for Windows LIve.

That being said, this really looks to be one of the greatest sandbox games to be made. At the very least, it will be the greatest Old-West sandbox game of all time.

I actually enjoyed GTA4...well bits of it...most of the missions annoyed me, so I spent most of my time driving around making a mess of the city. Multiplayer was pretty good.

Eh. My interest is piqued, but I'm a long way from impressed.

Though I suppose it would be akin to the second coming for people who like westerns.

Also:
That was physically painful to watch.

I played Red Dead Revolver on the PS2 (I believe it was the first one in the series) I thought that it was good, but it never really took me that much. Still, if anybody i know gets this, I might try to borrow it, but if not, I probably won't play it.

This game is going to be awesome. I still spend hours in GTA IV riding a dirt bike around. Put the same mechanics in the wild west (minus the dirt bike), and I'll be entertained for years.

personally i love GTAIV

i really CANNOT get tired of killing cops, or sidewalk driving. or finding jews and using a bat.
or killing grandmas on mothersday. or hiring a hooker and then driving my car into the wall until its on fire and then watching the hooker roll out of the car and run around on fire. or riding my bike off of a roof and trying to hit my friend using a helicopter. etc.

i'm easily entertained. i love cowboys and "native americans", red dead redemption is going to be sick/ill/dope/fly/sweet/fresh and all of the above.

For those comparing it to the original Red Dead Revolver, Rockstar simply purchased the rights to the game. In gameplay terms, they are two completely different games. Setting and story is all that overlaps.

I second that. I watched about 30 seconds before being overwhelmed and turning it off.

So does anyone have it yet? Any verdicts?
