Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game

Post by Grayswandir » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:48 am

I'd only heard about Scott Pilgrim in passing and knew that it was a series of six comic books about some guy who loves some girl and has to defeat 7 ex-boyfriends. That's about the extent of which I knew of the series. Yes, there's a movie out now based on the comics, the game, while its a licensed product of the movie, it follows the comic instead of going by what the movie has in it, which is a good thing. Also, Paul Robertson, who did Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006 worked on the game as well.

Anyway, I downloaded the demo for the game off of XBL arcade...and...its one of the most awesome 2D games I've played in a while. Its like a mix of River City Ransom, Final Fight, and Castle Crashers, mixed with a healthy dose of video game references and parodies. This game is pretty much a homage to 2D beat-em-ups. Of course they mix in all the Scott Pilgrim stuff as well. For those of you who are fans of the series, you'll spot stuff all over the place, I actually had to read the comics before I was able to understand some of the events that were going on. Its also full of hidden items and cheat codes that you can discover (or just rip off the internet...). There's up to 4 player cooperative, and you can each level up and gain new moves and combos. The only problem some people might have is that it has no online multiplayer. its all local, couch sitting fun. Still, even if you have no idea what Scott Pilgrim is, go check it out, its a great game.

No, I still havent' seen the movie, and I probably never will.

Going to see the movie tonight. Heard it's good. Probably won't get the game. I got MNC already, which is completely awesome, and Blacklight: Tango Down which is sort of annoying.

Finished the game, played the zombie mode, got Anamanaguchi's albums because they're amazing, became obsessed with this song from the game and this song from the movie:

I particularly love that one because Brie Larson seems to ooze sexual energy.

I love how he failed to provide us with a working link. Muahaha, I might not even remove it.
