I'm sorry, but this version is clearly far better:

This is what I would have chosen from the Metal Gear Solid 2 OST. I know it's the obvious choice but it's by far the strongest piece of music in the game. Inspirationally evocative:

This is clearly the best piece of music on any soundtrack ever. Every media form inclusive:

The original is also very good, but I think I prefer HM2. At least they're both better than HM3, imho.

@RT: Nah, the lengthened 3-minute long intro kind of kills it on the Still Alive remix. It's not even really that well done. The vocals are pretty good, but I still personally prefer the original version because it sounds a lot more organic- lots of percussion, strings, and even a few winds if I hear correctly. Acoustic sounds typically lead to much more emotionally connotative music than electronic ones.

The main theme for MGS2 is cool and all, and definitely superior overall for that OST, but I still love Tanker Incident more than any other battle song in the series (although the Rex v Ray theme is a close second, love using it when playing online *mgsnerdgasm*)

For overall 'deep/emotional' song, it's a fair toss-up between Enclosure (this song made me bawww as a little kid [also the remix is pretty nice]), The Best Is Yet To Come, and Love Theme.

And I somehow totally forgot about SoTC despite the fact that it probably has one of the best soundtracks in history.

Nah, the original is really overly melodramatic, soppy and in general not very good at all. Benny Benassi made the song come...alive. And what are you talking about 3 minute intro? There's no 3 minute intro.

Then it seems we are at an impasse of opinions.

EDIT: The weird instrumental electronic-y bit at the beginning. In case you didn't notice, the full song is about 3 minutes longer than the original :P Maybe the vocals start earlier, but the vocals are really distorted as well- they occasionally blend with the instruments and it's hard to differentiate between the two.

In other news this remains a fucking masterpiece.

YES, Endoperez, YES.

The creepy Dungeon Keeper music is so familiar. I loved the atmosphere of that game. I know atmosphere is an annoying buzzword which critics overuse, but I really mean that. I loved the creepy, chilling, surreal feel of Dungeon Keeper, and the adventure and mystery of digging out into the great unknown underworld, not knowing what pirates or archers or ninjas or dwarves were going to spring up behind the next piece of wall. Brilliant mood setting music.

Also, Grandia's dinner music is so awesome. It's so happy feeling. I remember I used to love their odd bit of palaver over a bowl of their mom's finest seafood stew.

Also, this is my favourite piece of music from Grandia. Stupid buzzwords again, but "EPIC" keeps pounding at the back of my head when I listen to it:

Also, this is great music that perfectly suited the mood of the scenes it was used in when I played Suikoden 2:

I've also selected these few from Final Fantasy VII because they're all amazing.

Come on, it just sounds awesome. If that doesn't get you in the mood for kicking some big boss ass then I don't know what does.

I'm sad now...

The sound of this still just fucking spooks the hell out of me.

The original FFVII OST version of Jenova and the OverClocked remix version. They're both amazing. I love OverClocked though, everything they do sounds awesome.

My single favourite track on the FFVII OST. When Nanaki/Red XIII sees his father's body frozen in stone on the cliff high above, realising his father risked himself to protect Cosmo Canyon and Red XIII himself. Great piece of moving soundtrack music. Favourite piece is at exactly 0:54. Awesome.

How did I forget this one? Awesome Utada Hikaru.
