Oh! How do you take a screenshot of a majestic world like THAT?Tonjevic wrote:snip
Seriously, people have been making me jealous with those kind of screenshots.
Re: Name that game
Indeed it is Dwarf Fortress!
This world isn't mine, but it's usually not too difficult to get awesome-looking maps. I gen a new world every time I play DF (once every couple of months) and make a habit of exporting the world image during generation, and most are as cool as this one.
Though I typically use default generations presets, you can get some interesting results by playing around with the settings of the simulation as well. Adding extra volcanism and mountains can add extra interest to an otherwise mundane forest-world. More deserts can be introduced by reducing rainfall etc.
I believe you can also export map images detailing various interesting world parameters from Legends mode, too - but I typically just take the standard snapshot at the conclusion of world gen and have a quick squizz.
EDIT: I suppose I should point out that the tileset has been modifed for that screenshot. The water, trees, sites and some other details have been altered from vanilla DF; but it isn't a drastic change, and the shot is fairly reflective of what most of these images broadly look like.
