Worst. Valentine's day. Ever.

I was thoroughly convinced yesterday that valentines day wouldn't be as depressing this year as it was for me the previous years because commercials and advertising leading up to today didn't seem to depress me as much anymore.

But it seems the bastard St. Valentine decided to up the ante and make this year particularly bad for me.

Around 1am today, I got called up by a friend who i haven't seen in two years and got roped in to becoming a groomsman for a wedding in which to be honest I didn't really even plan to attend.

That was annoying to me, but didn't phase me too much because I guess at least its a free meal, free booze, and a chance to get reacquainted with friends. Even though I'm going to have to get a tuxedo and blow a good part of the weekend to do it

Then around 10:00am today I just rear ended a Lexus 350 and met the oddly pleasant lady driving it. Honestly, her car wasn't too bad at all, it had one large scratch on the bumper and for the most part that was it. But my car is kinda fucked up now , it busted out the grill and for some reason the hood doesn't look like its fitting properly as it once did.

However, i just found out that professional repair for a deep scratch can costs hundreds of dollars ... which is probably more money than i spent repairing my car from a totaled state >_>

So now its 1:48 PM and I'm thinking to myself ... what else is going to happen today?

I didn't sleep through most of the day...I did play Jagged Alliance 2, Modern Warfare 2, Shadowrun and Bad Company 2 though. I made a right old day of it.

Then around 10:00am today I just rear ended a Lexus 350 and met the oddly pleasant lady driving it. Funny, this sounds identical to when I crashed my car last Easter, except I rear-ended her car. What happened next sounded to me, and to the lady driving the car I hit, like an explosion. The funny thing is that the back of her Volkswagen Golf had a dented rear bumper and a small scratch. Looked like it didn't even need to be replaced, just a spray job. Anyway, I took her details and gave the gardaí my details. The gardaí mentioned a court summons for me on the basis that I was driving on a provisional licence without an accompanying driver with a minimum of 2 years already on their full licence, but I think that was more to put a scare into me more than anything, and I was actually laughing and having a joke with them despite the circumstances, it was nothing severe, just a fright for me and the lady in front of me more than anything. Anyway my mum got hold of the details and contacted the lady I crashed into, and sorted it out between themselves, no need for our insurance companies to get involved. In the end it only costed about 300 or so to fix. From looking at it you wouldn't have expected it to even cost half that, but I was just counting my lucky stars that I'd gotten a lovely person to crash into rather than some baggy old cunt. It sounds like you've encountered the same humble kind of person. It's great when you encounter people who have every right to get angry at you, but somehow don't. Thhe lady in the other car seemed more concerned about me than about her car, and invited me down to her mum's house for a cup of tea. The kindness of strangers can be humbling.

It's moments like that which I like to revel in, rather than contrived and commercialised scenarios that arise as a result of the Valentine's Day feeling of obligation to celebrate a calendar date that has no significant value, save for the inconsequential fact that some senior religious figure from over two millenia ago decided that it should be so.

She seemed pleasant but in reality i knew she was quite annoyed, but did well to conceal it ...

I was honestly pretty shook up and was in reflective shock for the rest of the morning ...

I have a feeling that I'm going to be much more upset when she calls back later today with an estimate ...

Im guessing that the next shit to hit the fan will be the homework i have to do by tomorrow ... that's the next thing that could go utterly wrong ...

Thank god she was ACTUALLY nice and not pretending ...

Now I gotta decide whether or not I should tell my parents or just fix up my car before I go home this weekend and not tell them ...

Also I'm debating whether or not to tell them about the wedding thing ...

about two years ago there was a girl I liked and i thought she could use a morale boost (she was pretty cute but didn't really realize it at the time). So I wrote her a fairly simple, yet sweet romantic note and left it anonymous ...
