How about a crackdown style thing, where you store weapons you find from your enemy's, As you progress, the harder the enemy's the better weapons you find, yet you can still miss an enemy's weapon if it breaks during the fight or something?

Yeah that sounds the same as crackdown, It doesn't require any sort of currency yet it still creates a progression for the weapons, And stuff...
Best system in my opinion. (for this type of game)

I´m pretty much against this idea of inventories and load out system. IMO you shouldn't be able to bring weapons between levels at all, you should have to make do with salvaged weapons picked up during playing the level. Or in some cases a specified starting weapon.

Hmmm... Well, I do quite like how in the comic the characters are constantly travelling from one place to another, and in a sense having a home base would take a great deal away from the sense of urgency you want to create in a game like Lugaru, and having menu screens at all would make the game less fluid. But from a gameplay point-of-view having some choice of weapons could make things more interesting and add to replay-value by giving the player more ways to complete each level.Ylvali wrote:I´m pretty much against this idea of inventories and load out system. Then again Lugaru's difficulty curve wasn't exactly smooth even with static encounters: a hand-crafted experience with fixed assets and obstacles might be preferable

What about, if there were weaponhouses/storages in some of the maps, where you could sneak your way in - grab the weapons you'd like and carry on with the mission. This would only be in some maps (the maps where it would make sense to have a weaponhouse/storage) so we'd have some maps where you'd be able to set yourself up a little and others where everything is spontaneous.

I like the idea of having hidden weapon caches in levels. Like if there was some sort of armory in a castle you were infiltrating, and you had the option of breaking stealth to secure yourself a weapon or two, but it would greatly increase the difficulty of the upcoming fight maybe?
