Heightmaps (and any image in general) have to be saved in a rectangular format. Even if you use a circular transparency map, you are wasting about 1/3 of the space you could be using. very inefficient.

I just wanted to say that I love the torrent option. My internet out here isn't very stable, but gets a better signal at night - so I can leave it on, and it'll kick in when it gets a signal. Downloading directly would be nearly impossible without using a download manager, but even then, who's to say the file will resume correctly. Thanks for giving an alternative.

Yep, much better speed on the torrent than the http download. In Australia here as well. I hope it can be an option for downloading the full game.

Which disallows myself authentication most the time. :\ Is there any way to run the OG alpha offline? Authload just loads your localcode, still says 'couldn't authenticate - connection failed'. Am I shit out of luck? Is this even the right place to ask such questions?

I get 65-85 FPS usually when running around (exceeds 100 in open space), but when I look at the trees I occasionally drop to 30 FPS. This supposed to be normal?

yes, messy and unoptimized.

you should post your specs.though I think this may have been answered and it may just be a lack of optimization.

I have a macbook pro
2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
with a GeForce 8600M GT

I have been able to run other games like Call of Duty 2. So I don't really understand. Nor do I understand what you mean by optimisation. I am guessing there is something in the forum already explaining that so I will go have a look about changing my optimisation.

Thank you

Theres nothing wrong with your machine, its just that the game still needs to be optimized, a computer of that spec should certainly be able to run overgrowth. Its just that after most features are finished the devs will feed through code of the game and try to make things run faster, and as this hasn't happened yet it still runs anoyingly slow

Ah Ok. Thanks for the quick responses. It's nice enough that they are sending out the alpha's so I can't complain. Just sad I can't play them. But oh well I will keep downloading each one just incase.

Thanks again for the help
