I have the recent version of Java, but I too have my Overgrowth executable in a separate drive (E:\VIDEO GAMES\Wolfire Games\Overgrowth), so the error I receive is:
""Error: Unable to access jarfile E:\VIDEO""

Although it's probably not wise, I am going to try and find the required file and put it in there so this will probably end badly

It looks really nice! :P

That is once again the issue with the file-path having a space. Don't worry, this will be fixed in the next version which should be uploaded some time later today. Once the update is uploaded on the server it will ask you if you want to update the launcher the next time you run it.

Ok, sounds good, I think then perhaps I will wait with downloading the Alpha to help with testing... This could be an incredible addition to an already amazing game.

I was going to send the log file, but it didn't seem like it would help much heh

You guys are awesome. :D

This is awesome and amazingly convenient as I have two alphas to update over this week. W00t! Knife fighting here I come! And remember kids: The first rule of knife fighting is that you're gonna get cut!

EDIT: Oh my gosh it works like a charm and is awesome. Thanks a ton for this guys. I can't wait to see more of the planned features to be added. That mod browser and manager is going to be great for newer users that aren't as technically inclined.

SUMLauncher Alpha 1.1 is now available:

Code: Select all

• Fixed issue where a space in a directory path could break the program.
• Fixed improper config file / game path detection.
• Updated config editor UI.
• Updated 'About' page.
• Changed some error messages to be more specific.
• Fixed some compatibility issues.
Download (the links in the first post have been updated as well)

There is currently a fix in the works, it should be available in the next day or so. Sorry for the hassle!

Works!

Some issues very quickly (which I probably should of just e-mailed, but thought I would just leave this message here)

Update worked correctly and game worked, but upon clicking "Edit Config" from the .jar executable SUMlauncher.jar (version 1_1) I received this error:
Error reading config file.
setSelectedIndex: 16 out of bounds
The game was updated correctly and it was much smoother in general from alpha 163. Less lag and such. Knives are awesome :D

BUT, Anton's awesome "mods menu" is gone? When I load Overgrowth all it has is the stock maps.
When trying to load custom made levels (the .xml's) it crashes with this:
Could not find level file: Data/Levels/
and then Windows 7 giving me this error:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: Overgrowth.exe
Application Version: 0.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 4f0a224a
Fault Module Name: MSVCR80.dll
Fault Module Version: 8.0.50727.6195
Fault Module Timestamp: 4dcddbf3
Exception Offset: 00008aa0
Exception Code: c000000d
Exception Data: 00000000
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: d531
Additional Information 2: d531025de6dc8e29c67e9c77d30047a3
Additional Information 3: 794d
Additional Information 4: 794d7c50e6fa1d50cf62b80d1296ab41

Still, it's a great application! I like it!
Probably need an update from Anton I suppose? Or could it be the way I have my drives setup?

There was an update to the menu file that my mod uses, but I have already fixed that menu, so simply running the installer/updater for my mod will fix that for you. I'm not sure about the error you were getting. If you do have to enter levels manually, make sure you type in the full name, including the .xml. See if that fixes it.

Having the exact same problem as Wobak.

[edit] Also using XP. Don't know if that has something to do with it.

It sounds to me like your config file has some sort of improper formatting - I would suggest deleting your config.txt file (in your My Documents/Wolfire/Overgrowth/Data/ folder), starting Overgrowth up once (to recreate the config file), then try it again.

Also, I have a potential fix for those who have been unable to start the program at all, but I need to talk to one of you on the IRC. Could either Wobak, Vaxellon, or sirwillis message me on #wolfire please?
