It's been almost 2 months now with not a word from Wolfire, so I'm just a tad worried. Still enjoying the game in it's current build though. Just wish there was more dev participation these days.
They've been doing Omega Jam, which means they've been working hard on making progress on Overgrowth. Less blog updates, much more live streaming.

Abstract from a mail of today 19th March: "At the present time, all our developers and people who work on Overgrowth are insanely busy working on updates to the game." by ******** - Ninja Support.
My guess is that they are planning to enter beta with the next update, or to make it a really huge one (rats, new cat costumes, they messed around with the animations and God knows what more).

Aubrey was working on a lot of characters (rats and cats) in his monthlong stream on Omega Jam. David says the next update should be coming out soon after GDC. Unfortunately he wasn't able to stream much because he was preparing for GDC, but hopefully we'll get some cool stuff along with the new characters in the update

Id like some missile weapons like bows and crossbows or even musquets for cats to go with their rapiers

Yeah, I checked em' out. Saw lots of comments of comments of them playing other games, and discussing random things. Couldn't dig up any news on overgrowth though, save 1-2 tweets showing some older art designs for characters and such...
Honestly not complaining, but I personally really appreciate being kept in the loop. They have a blog, so I'd say use it. : )

I just bought the "alpha" and an idea for a story came to mind.
The king has kidnapped "peter's" young daughter to add her to his harem. Peter must cross several lands in order to find her. Along his way he meets friends and foes. Friends or other enemy's of the king that may help him on his task, and offer goods (armor, gold)for his service. He must be careful on his journey as there are many assassins and the king's henchman to dispose of those whom speak out against the "kingdom". After making his way Peter finds his daughter along with many other "hairs" guarded by the Wolf.
For this story, Armour would be the most valuable item.As you get closer to the king's Prison, the armor value must be high . Have a health system where Peter can get hurt but must find someone to tend to his injuries, and allow time to heal. Also those that Peter meet can join him on his journey.

I'd like to see branching dialogue for the dialogue editor, for anyone that wants to make an NPC or companion for a map/whatever. Not sure how difficult that would be to implement, but I think it'd be nice (although possibly complicated when you're writing dialogue).
