Unbearable stuttering?

Alright..I pre-ordered this ages ago, but I actually completely forgot about it until today.
Got my hands on Alpha 141. (seeing as 142 breaks ledge grabbing)
I've been attempting to play it for the last hour, but no matter what I do, the editor/game is nearly unplayable due to a CONSTANT stuttering, which lasts anywhere between a couple milliseconds to 5 seconds. It is driving me nuts. I've tried shutting down everything but the game, tried restarting, updating drivers, all that standard stuff. It still keeps on stuttering. Did anyone else have this issue, and if so, did you manage to solve it?

Specs:
Core i7 920 @ stock clocks (~2.4 ghz)
Radeon HD 6870 @ 940/1150
6GB DDR3-1066
2x 1.5TB 7200RPM hard-drives
Asus Xonar DG sound card

have you tried messing with the config? lawl assuming you tried that and I can't help.

The FAQ has a solution


screenwidth: 800
screenheight: 600
multisample: 4
anisotropy: 4
texture_reduce: 1

Set these in the config, lowers the textures and a few other things so it doesn't lag as much

im amazed cos my comp is relatively new (built it myself) and it only has:

amd athon 64 x2 4200+ @ 2.2 Ghz
some passively cooled ati card
2Gb ram,(planning to get more).

i have relatively high settings and full screen on and i dont get much below 30 fps all the time, usually nearer 60.

i have a ati raedon x1300 256mb graphics card
4gb ram - only 3 shows up on menu?

and i get 60 standing still i move and i get 10, then if i fight or ragdoll or cause blood its goes to like 1

The game has yet to be optimized, and obviously is still in Alpha. Due to some quirks that I don't understand, the game works on some machines, and not others, even if the "other" is newer or faster. This will all be fixed. If someone can help you with your white box, that might work, but if you really want to get your money back until it will work on your computer, Wolfire is very easygoing about returns. Good luck
