Maybe have a button to kick/fling sand off the ground at enemies. You could grab a little handful and let centrifugal force leak sand out of your hand as you fling it at your enemies. They could stumble; rub their eyes and try to block while you beat some of them up. Yet again, this would turn into an infinite amount of sand problem. e.g. 3 Guards are running at you. You pick up your sand and blind them. You beat up one. More sand. Repeat.
I would rather take a fist to the head than a rock to the head while it is in someone's fist. The head is really the only place where a rock would do much damage. No, I don't think you should be able to block with rocks, unless, that is, if you crank your parameters and pick up a boulder...
Oh, about parameters, is there any good way to crank them like how you could in previous alphas? I always like being able to kick people across the world...
