Unofficial Overgrowth a191, weekly build

Post by Jeff » Mon Aug 27, 2012 3:00 am

The unofficial, Overgrowth a191 leaked build is here! Note, you can also download it on your Humble Store page now!

(watch in hd)

Changelog:
- Attachment system for non-weapon gear
- Added 20 gear attachment slots
- Items can be tinted using color picker
- Color picker starts at current color of seleted object
- Fixed problem with enemies drawing non-weapon items when threatened
- Item attachment only works with the attachment slots, not character bounding boxes

A "leaked build" is when John and I grab the latest SVN build and package it up for you guys. It has a ton of known bugs, so don't worry if it doesn't work for you. It is not condoned by David and Aubrey but we want to keep you guys in the loop and give you stuff to play with regularly!

If you find any bugs, please email a full description along with your system specs to [email protected].

*NOTE* Please remember that these are unofficial alphas and they do not represent a finished product. They are not polished builds, just straight up raw development dumps.

To download the alpha, use one of these links:

For new users
  • If you have not installed Overgrowth yet you can use the SUMLauncher to do so!
  • If you already have Overgrowth installed you can use the SUMLauncher to update it to the latest alpha.
  • The SUMLauncher also allows you to install the Menu Mod which gives you another 150+ maps to try.
For Existing SUMLauncher users
  • If the menu files were changed in this alpha, the menu mod will no longer work. Updating the Menu Mod (to re-enable custom maps) might take us a little while. Once we have uploaded a new version you can use the menu mod installer to update it. (And don't worry, it won't break anything if you try running the installer before we upload the new files.)
  • It may also take us a bit to update the Menu Mod to include any new maps that this alpha may have added.
For future updates keep an eye on our twitter @SUMOGUtilities!

It should be in the updates only, and should be pretty easy to grab (like 20 MB?)

never mind, my friend is sending me the whole scripts folder because it turns out I needed the whole scripts folder, because I had last's blood mod from 190.

Last is pretty good about always packaging backup scripts with his blood mod, so you can revert to the original version. You should always try to do that before updating, but if you forget, you can always install that backup, and using SUMLauncher, force the update again (under the file menu) getting you back up to date.

Should be good. ;)

Awesome. Guessing the equipment system will be complete soon then?

Looking forward to the first campaign maps this year/next year then. ;D

Does the armour actually function like armour or is it just decoration?

how the hell do i equip the armor. I hate it when ever a new update comes out you never tell anyone how to use it. You just show it off. How do you expect us to use it if you dont tell us how?

They don't expect us to use it and they have no reason to tell us how. The alphas are offered freely as gifts alongside our preorders. We have not been asked to test, we are all testing because Wolfire allowed us to.

However, modders may offer information, as proven by the Wiki.

For your information, the armour is likely equipped through the In-game Editor which is accessed through ESC. Find it in the item selector menu and then drop it. Click Alt and attach it to wherever you wish on your character.
