Downloading Overgrowth/SUMLauncher Help

Post by Unversed » Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:52 pm

Hello, I know it isn't recommended to make new threads for help here, but as I've been talking with what is supposed to be the help through e-mail, and haven't been able to come up with any solutions, they have directed me here.

I've been trying to get this game to work for two days now without any success, and it's really frustrating. Every time I try, something else breaks.

Currently, I have the SUMLauncher downloaded, but now when I try to get the game it says "MD5 Check Failed". Earlier today, I had both, but each time I hit 'Launch Overgrowth' from the SUMLauncher, nothing happened. No error notice, no windows, nothing. The game didn't open, and it didn't explain why.

If there is anyone who has had a problem like that who could help me, that would be awesome.
Or if anyone could write up a sort of walkthrough for downloading this, on the chance that I am just doing everything wrong and terribly, that would also be great. I can just start over if someone can direct me.

I am running on Windows 8
Laptop information: Processor AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 1900 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

Really appreciate any tips! Thanks so much!

-Frustrated Overgrowth supporter, eagerly waiting to try the Alpha.

If the download failed the md5 check, that means that it most likely became corrupted one way or another - is your internet service usually reliable?

You said that you managed to get Overgrowth installed, though the SUMLauncher can not successfully open it - have you tried running Overgrowth normally?

Yes, my service does not normally experience problems. In fact, there was a point that it had downloaded past the MD5 point just fine. Though, when it wasn't working then, I uninstalled it to try again, and now there is a problem with it.

I did try to run Overgrowth on its own and I have seen two different errors:

OH!

In the middle of replying to this I finally managed to make it work! ; A ;
I am so incredibly happy right now, thank you to everyone who was helping me!
This game looks amazing~!

Thank you, thank you!

May I ask what you had to do in order to get it to work? I'm glad everything worked out for you! :)

While I had done it yesterday as well, it broke... but I had to download it from Humble Bundle, without the recommended torrent, and put the file right on my desktop. It would get lost otherwise... Then somehow the SUMLauncher picked it up from there, when it wasn't taking the installers or game launchers I had downloaded. Or perhaps you were right, and maybe every time was a fluke and my connection was being interrupted each time. I'm sorry I don't know exactly what happened, otherwise I could help others who may (but hopefully not) experience the same issues.

It is running smoothly now, just without sound. Is there a setting to fix that? :3

Make sure you are running the SUMLauncher.exe file, and not a jar file.
