A "leaked build" is when I grab the latest development build and package it up for you guys. It has a bunch of known bugs, so don't worry if it doesn't work for you. It is not condoned by David and Aubrey but we want to keep you guys in the loop and give you stuff to play with regularly!

If you find any bugs, please email a full description along with your system specs to [email protected].

*NOTE* Please remember that these are unofficial alphas and they do not represent a finished product. They are not polished builds, just raw development dumps.

To download the alpha, use one of these links, or log into your Humble Store account:

For new users
  • If you have not installed Overgrowth yet you can use the SUMLauncher to do so!
  • If you already have Overgrowth installed you can use the SUMLauncher to update it to the latest alpha.
  • The SUMLauncher also allows you to install the Menu Mod which gives you another 150+ maps to try.
For Existing SUMLauncher users
  • If the menu files were changed in this alpha, the menu mod will no longer work. Updating the Menu Mod (to re-enable custom maps) might take us a little while. Once we have uploaded a new version you can use the menu mod installer to update it. (And don't worry, it won't break anything if you try running the installer before we upload the new files.)
  • It may also take us a bit to update the Menu Mod to include any new maps that this alpha may have added.
For future updates keep an eye on our twitter @SUMOGUtilities!

This build doesn't start any level for me on Linux. There's a dialog saying that I'm missing some function signatures (e.g. RiggedObject::ApplyForceLineToRagdoll(const vec3&, const vec3&, const vec3&)).
I've used the changes-zip and I've noticed that the Overgrowth-binaries for Linux are not included there (only OvergrowthWorker is), while for OS X and Windows they were. I'm guessing the 201-Linux binaries are just missing?

This:

Some test dialogue comes up when you press k, with the camera at a random point in the level, but somehow it can teleport your player into the camera... o_o

I hope the next weapon they work on is the hammer. I would love to finally see official attack animations for it.

Is the dreaded libc.so bug still in existence in this build?

For anyone else, if you happen to run linux and it works for you would kindly post your glibc version which you get by executing the following in a terminal:

Code: Select all

ldd --version
I'm interested in what version of glibc Overgrowth is compatible with. It only ever worked once for me on a Debian Squeeze install which I think has 2.11.

I'm thrilled by the new spear fight! It is really enjoyable, and looks great.
There aren't quite as many thrusts as i'd like, it's mostly slashes, which are (or should be) easier to block/parry. It would be really great if I had control over wether I want to slash or thrust with the spear, and since the spear is so long, thrusting should be possible from farther away. (Correct me if this is already implemented automatically..)
I mean, i get it that everything is automatic in this game, i'm just the guy who always asks for more control :P

About the menu: it's looks weird for me now. I have a 4:3 screen, and it looks like the menu wants to be 16:9. The aspect ratio is fine ingame though.
Oh, and the custom maps section won't load.. not sure what's up with that, i guess it's a sumlauncher issue?
This is what my main menu looks like: http://i.imgur.com/PZD1Nou.jpg (note the black part at the bottom)
