Parkour, moving and trick suggestions

Post by 000oOoOo » Sun Mar 02, 2014 11:58 am

I've been thinking that overgrowth's parkour possibilities could be a bit more diverse. In current version a205, about only things you can do is jump, roll, flip and wallrun. Only obstacles you have is walls and platforms.
I suggest that the developers would add some new moves and obstacles like poles and rails that you could balance on. Or climbable ropes and trees to make moving around and challenge maps more fun.
Anyone agree with me or have more detailed suggestions? Feel free to right me if I'm wrong about something.

Anything that makes the free running more like Prince of Persia would suite me just fine. :)

I think the current parkour system needs to be refined a bit more before the devs go adding in all the new fancy stuff.

The grab isnt consistent enough. The arms only grab edges that are horizontal enough so that they meet both hands, instead of the hands moving up or down a little to meet the edge. Eg Giant boulders with awkward slopes and jumping point

The wall run is great until you want to run on a non flat surface. It seems like each individual jump can only support a single wall run. so when you try to wall run on slightly angles surface such as the giant structures like in the dead volcano level you get one step into the wall run, you instantly detach, horizontal momentum is reset and its VERY difficult to get to the next platform.
Similar effect on the giant boulders, just in the side wall runs instead of going strait up.

Flips bloody epic tho, never tire of accidentally face planting and rag dolling into the dirt

I dont know how far it is working, but non horizontal edges work at leat till 20 degrees and the hand adjust to the edge

the wallrun is a problem thats right
i also find it crazy that you can wallrun up straight walls and walk them up to about 50 degrees but in between its impossible
oh and the jumping up almost every slope isnt that cool either

but alpha normally means addings features and theyre then refined in beta
