What mod would you make?

Post by mphasis » Fri Oct 10, 2008 4:36 am

If you've pre-ordered this game, I'd say that maybe you have a passion for Wolfire Games,
So...
I'd be really interested to hear,
What mod would you make for this game?
(Ignoring skills for now, because 1337 skillz can always be learn'ed, and crazy ideas are fun)

I'd be tempted to play around with:
*Fights on moving trains, many trains
*Javascript puzzles
*Obstacle course races(Like scaling a tower, getting from one end of a valley to the other etc.)
*Feudal japan settings(With huge halls, many breakable paper doors, temple streams etc.)

I have an idea for story-driven mod that I really want to start working on, but I don't think I should before I know how much of the game I can convert. Might have to starr Turner, but, yeah. 8)

Coincidentally, OG was slightly closer to my idea than I first thought when I started thinking of it, so this might work in advantage. :D

Some have even played with the thought of making an RTS mod.

I have a few ideas, but I really want to see how the engine turns out before starting any real brainstorming :)

Looking forwards to your mods, guise!

I don't really know..because I don't know the capabilities of the new game. Maybe an Overgrowth version of Empire, but only if I think people would be interested. Honestly I think that would be boring for most of the users here. But we'll have to see what can be done differently in the new game.

I like the japanese setting idea...

Also, maybe something medieval and then a completely different mod in the far future...

And of course A mod of the area I live in, so I can jump over the roof of my school as a ninja rabbit, kill wolves that represent teachers I resent, or something.. xd

Wouldn't a chinese setting be better for OG if that's the case? Martial arts-wise.

Awesome ideas

Post by mphasis » Sat Oct 11, 2008 8:36 pm

@Nuky: Everyone likes a good story:), A chinese setting would be cool, but I know more about Japan than I do China. Plus it's generally more popular, having ninja and samurai and all.
@Vetrox: What you WANT to make may very well shape the tools that you end up making it with. You have to start with what you want, and then Wolfire can make tools that accommodate your visions, rather than you being limited and frustrated by lacking tools.
@Hazel-roo: Agreed, I loved Jazz Jackrabbit back in the day
@Count Roland: Horror sounds fun!
@Glabbit:Real-life locations... awesome.
@Ltp0wer: Do I smell a zero gravity mod with dismemberment?

Great ideas people, keep them coming!
I'm asking this because I'd like to see what people want in a mod, and also, what the community wants to work on.(So we can make some awesome content for this game!)

zerogravity would be insanely cool beyond belief though useless in the actual game.

jazz jackrabbit was how I found lugaru, cause I forgot the name of it and looked up rabbit fighting game or something and I found lugaru. I would make a mod of the Story of Roland maybe except that it's just basically A bunch of completely unrelated adventures.

Zero Gravity

Post by mphasis » Sun Oct 12, 2008 4:51 pm

When I say zero gravity, I mean zero gravity but with sticky floors(Magnet Boots?), so you have a giant sphere around the outside of the level and lots platforms and cubes in the middle.
You would have to jump at enemies swinging.
It would be almost like jousting, except wall jumps would allow you to change direction and nail the other person in the back.

It would be a little strange because if you walked off the edge of a platform, you wouldn't fall off, you'd keep wrapping around the sides, and just walk on the walls, underneath etc.
Jumping gets you off of the platform.

Imagine a throwing knife war between 6 people...
