The crash-thread!

Post by Nuky » Sun Nov 02, 2008 4:41 am

Before everybody starts swarming the place with each their story about how they cannot get alpha 1 to work, I thought we could collect them all under one thread, and possibly find solutions. Please include as much relevant information as you can. :P

Now, I myself don't get ANY feedback whatsoever running this, so I have no idea what's going on. Dependencies, maybe?
Edit: Awesomium.log says this: [1102/094636:ERROR:WebCoreProxy.cpp(65)] ICU failed initialization! Have you forgotten to include the DLL?

I run C2D 2.4ghz (clocked to 3.15) (and with PLENTY cache ;D)
2gb ram
GeForce 7600 GT
Audigy 2 Zs

System specs are especially helpful.

If you are on windows, maybe you should try a restart.

Solution:
Logitech's SetPoint was interfering, somehow. Quit setpoint, and it should work, if you're having the (very) same problem as me.

another few bugs, on a mac this time:

At an uncertain point, the mouse stopped turning the camera. I could click, drag, but the camera wouldn't move. Unknown cause.

After quitting and reopening, it asked me for my auth code again. Is it supposed to do thing every time you open it?

Another uncertain point. Camera still works, but I am unable to enter text into the console. Unknown cause, again. When in the console, pressing P still toggles shaders. huh.

Specs:
Mac os 10.5.5
2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-core intel Xeon

When i open up the exe i wait like 10 second then a black window(DOS window) shows up and then The game's window itself with a grey color and then the final window, which reads "Lugaru 2 has encountered a problem, please contact windows bla bla shit..." What do i do?

System:
Windows XP
512 Ram
Ati Radeon 9600
AMD Sempron 2600+
1.83 Ghz
PS:i think my system is good enought becouse it runs Lineage 2...

Sorry bro, but you've got a pretty old video card there.

So it is from the video card?

That's what I'm guessing, since that card probably doesn't support a lot of modern shader techniques. I'd wait for the team to officially answer though.

Anyway, system specs:
Windows XP
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 GHz
2GB RAM
GeForce 9600GT

Think that's all the relevant info. Everything is working swimmingly, get about 150-170 FPS with "p" on, 250 without. No crashes so far. "Load" button doesn't seem to do anything although I'm probably just confused with how the program works.

Anything specific I should try testing?

In the Overgrowth/Data folder there's a file named config.txt. You can disable shaders in it, that might solve it.

Also: Pressing P does not toggle shaders, it toggles wireframe mode.

No matter what, Overgrowth should not crash or do anything weird. In the absolute worst case scenario, it should say "Sorry, your computer is not compatible - please upgrade component XYZ."

How so Wireframe mode? What's the change supposed to be?
