Bug tracking software

I want to set up an SPF bug tracker as the blessed build is coming soon, but I am having some trouble deciding on what software to use.

I really want to use http://code.google.com/ but I think it is only for open source projects. We use trac internally, but it is a pain to use. Bugzilla seems even more complicated than Trac.

Is there anything like Google Code that we can use?

Jeff, a bug tracker I have seen used is called "Mantis Bug Tracker"

I don't know if you have heard of the game Garrysmod, but garry (the programmer) has been using mantis for a long while now.

Also, I have no idea how it works, how to set it up, it's specifications, or if it is better or worse than what you have tried.

Yeah, Google Code appears to be limited to certain types of licences only.

I've been working with Mantis for three web projects and I like it. It's easy to use once you've st up your workflow.

The obvious solution here is to go open source so you can use Google Code.

Also, after a little bit of Googling, I found this: http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/51 ... 49951.html A bit old, but useful.

Two interesting alternatives are JitterBug, which seems lightweight and GNOME and The GIMP apparently used to use it, and RT. Both of these appear quite old and inactive. JitterBug has a list of projects that used it, but every single one of those 10 projects appear to have died or have switched to Bugzilla or Trac. RT's last update was last June, which was the first update after two years.

Would it really be that big of a deal to use Bugzilla or Trac? They seem to be pretty nice, especially for large, constantly updated software like Overgrowth.

Trac works, and we actually use that internally, but it is a pain. After using Google Code for some stuff, it's a pain to switch back. I'd really like something similar - a lightweight, ajaxy tracking system, that is really fast to use.
