Trouble with Alpha 11

Hello, I have Mac OS X but the Alpha 11(viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4521) does not open for me. I simply double click the application icon on my desktop, it's symbol appears on my dock for a short time, then goes away. Any ideas? :(

Have any of the older alphas worked for you before?
What version of OSX are you using?
Could it be that you are using a PowerPC mac? (Non-intel, so one that came out before the macbooks/macbook pros/mac pros)

I recently pre-ordered so the A11 was the 1st for me to try. I recently uploaded the Alpha 9 and that did not work either.

Mac OS X 10.4(.11). It's a Tiger.

No, I'm using Intel. Not on a PPC.

Ditto his problem...

I have 10.4.11 as well. Don't you just hate it when you're sitting on the tech limits? Well I suppose this would be the best place to ask: Will Overgrowth/When will Overgrowth be available to users like us who's computers are experiencing their mid-life crises?

Oh and hello again, Wolfire forum... It's been a while since I've posted hereabouts... Overgrowth development and pre-ordering got me more excited and involved again.

I think the main problem is that the Chromium core that is being used by Overgrowth currently requires 10.5. Sorry guys :(

WHAT??? Well, I just hope they come out with one that works for 10.4, or I will have been seriously ripped off. :(

We're not in the business of ripping people off. Please forward me your payment details and I will happily refund you if you are not comfortable with the weekly alpha's compatibility.

Sorry, didn't mean to make a fuss. Just wondering wether this is temporary.

Well, most software developers aren't in the business of downgrading their software (I think). If Chromium was possible and fully functional with 10.4 I'm sure that they'd use it.

I'm not too adept at Macs, but can't you just update to 10.5?

It's an actual software you have to buy, not a simply update. Like with the adobe products you might argue that the next version doesn't have that many improvements over the previous, but that's just how it is.

I too am a OS X 10.4 user, and have had no success with any of the alpha releases.

Does this mean I have to buy 10.5 if I want to play Overgrowth?

No, we will do our best to support 10.4.

i am having completely unrelated problems, i recently pre-ordered so 11 is the only one i can use and when i opened it the first time it had a white box instead of the builder menu so then i realized that in the data folder there was no UI folder so i downloaded the windows version and copied it in so now everything look good accept i cant actually build anything at all or move anything for that matter.

Are you loading models correctly?
To do so, while in build mode (ie. not controlling rabbot) press the top tool, go into Data/Objects/ and select an object, like DesertRock1a.xml then click on the ground.

Also, when you select (double click) a pre-existing model, switch to translate mode, and hold option+right click and drag it, does it duplicate the model?

As a side note, often I have problem similar to that as well. I'm using a custom map and custom objects, but I managed to add them before, and I'm guessing something got messed up in my xml file when saving or editing...
