Unofficial, alpha 38 weekly build

Post by Jeff » Tue Aug 04, 2009 3:28 am

The unofficial, alpha 38 leaked build is here!

A "leaked build" is when John and I literally grab the latest SVN build and package it up for you guys. It has a ton of known bugs, so don't worry if it doesn't work for you. It is not condoned by David, Phillip, and Aubrey, but we want to keep you guys in the loop and give you stuff to play with regularly! Please report bugs in Trac! http://trac.wolfire.net/spf/overgrowth

*NOTE* Please remember that these are unofficial alphas and they do not represent a finished product. They are not even polished builds, just straight up raw development dumps not intended for public consumption.

New in this version: (see blog)

Also, press F to toggle wireframe stuff. Press 8 and 9 to toggle the Rabbot. Press ` for the console. Type Console.help() for the console commands. Press b to spawn a physics box, right click to drag it around. Press r to spawn a ragdoll and F1 for WebKitten.

We are testing out BitTorrent DNA! Please let me know how that goes.
Windows: (direct) (torrent) (BitTorrent DNA)
Mac OS X: (direct) (torrent) (BitTorrent DNA)

Note! No PPC, 10.4 Tiger, or Linux support at the moment -- we are waiting on Google Chrome for these. We are not sure when this will happen. Linux support is on the horizon though!

Wait, would that be the warm feeling of urine spreading through jeans? Nah, must have imagined it.

(Was that too far   )

Downloading! skeet skeet!

Edit: Lol, wow, I'll cool down a bit, that was really immature

When I try to launch Lugaru2.exe, I get this message:
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
I downloaded the bittorrent version. Did something get borked?

Hum... The only way to fix that error in the previous builds was having C++ 2005 SP1 runtime (32-bit) installed.

Is it happening for people who even have that installed?

I think the fix worked, but this is actually a different build issue that I'm checking out. In the meantime, Windows users please use a37! Sorry about that

It is fine for me, Overgrowth is really awesome so it is ok =D

Only thing i wanna suggest: could we download the alphas with only a single whaleman default object?

First reason that it is less to download(textures takes a lot of memory, so we can download much faster without them as i think)
Second reason that we could just not download same object, like we could just copy repeating ones from previous alpha and then just add new from special download link may be =)

So may be my suggestion is silly, i dunno how this could work, may be new alpha objects have some new additions which are tied with the code, may be the exe is for special set of objects, or may be it is just impossible, so im sorry if i saying something supid, and good luck to Wolfire Team, you are working on really best game!!!
