dynamic props and assets?

Post by m3nace » Mon Aug 10, 2009 9:36 am

Question! Is it possible to have dynamic props and assets in OG? I haven't tried yet but when the character models are released I will try and see if i can open them up and create some crowds or gatherings of people as a dynamic prop opposed to passive npc's. I'd just wanna know if it's possible.

Isn't everything that moves a dynamic prop? Yes, you can have moving objects in OG.

can you please define what you mean by that?
Because if you mean the physblocks then no they're not dynamic props, they're physics props

Are you meaning NPC's actually walking around? Or some sort of dynamic spawning of NPC's around an area?

they're not quite npc's. They're cheap replacements for passive npc's, meaning that they're one or a group of models gathered into one object with an animation applied to them. Like a salesman standing and talking to a customer, the same animation should then be looped over and over again. It's to use less processor power on just passive npc's but then instead just a looping animation.

You could also do it with stuff like running water particles, a dustcloud, bugs and so on

Ah.

Currently, animations cannot be added with objects. I'm sure it will be available later on, though.
