Auto-updater UI
Auto-updater UI
Hey guys, as promised in the blog post tonight, here's the auto-updater UI I recently whipped up. Let me know what you think!
Be sure to use the latest version of Chrome or Safari (better yet, a WebKit nightly) to test it out!
All the data here is simulated, it's not actually downloading anything:

Nice and smooth.
I especially like the version previews bit.

Re: Auto-updater UI
Now I'm curious. Obviously this would be used in the full retail game.
Would something like this be available for mods you install? I.E. in the main menu it would tell you that mods you have have updates to them and then you could decide if you want to bother getting the update just then... if that's possible, of course.
NOTE: Mmmm, green. I like green =) I hope more of the UI later involves more of this black/dark grey + green =)
Though personally I would prefer more bluish green than the yellowish green being used now... because yellowish green looks yucky (though it would probably fit OG's theme more =o) NOTE 2: I like green.

Wow. It's crazy that all of that was made like a regular web page. Well done!

Re: Auto-updater UI
You should add some nice earthy browns to the UI's color scheme as well to complement the greens.

I find it really sexy as it is.
Re: Auto-updater UI
Feel free to pitch in mockups like Ozymandias, that would be very helpful.
Re: Auto-updater UI
You could consider putting in an Overgrowth-themed loading graphic instead of generic colored bar. Perhaps something like a moss-covered stone pillar, horizontal obviously. Here's a very simple MSPaint sketch made from the pillars in Overgrowth logo, to show the basic idea. The loading bar could be the pillar itself appearing, or plants and roots growing over it.

This sounds like an epic idea. A clean stone pillar that slowly gets chips and moss and vines growing from left to right. Doesn't that just yell 'overgrowth' ? =PEndoperez wrote:plants and roots growing over [the pillar].

I thought of the same thing by seeing this image!Ozymandias wrote:This sounds like an epic idea. A clean stone pillar that slowly gets chips and moss and vines growing from left to right. Doesn't that just yell 'overgrowth' ? =PEndoperez wrote:plants and roots growing over [the pillar].

Yeah that might be a nice little animation.
