Does Overgrowth's phoenix engine support multiprocessing?
Outside of graphics cards, will multiple processors help with game play and editing?
Thanks in advance,

Multi-processing?

Re: Multi-processing?
I remember an old blog post (too lazy to search /edit: found it) where David talked about shadow calculation and how he optimized it. There he mentioned parallellisation so I guess that is something he always has in mind. I am not sure if that is handled by the graphics processor though.
Re: Multi-processing?
Phoenix takes advantage of multiple cores using multi-threading and OpenMP. At the moment it is primarily used for long, intense calculations. Later on, I will be using it for game logic when possible, such as AI and special effects.

Thanks for the response bro.David wrote:Phoenix takes advantage of multiple cores using multi-threading and OpenMP. At the moment it is primarily used for long, intense calculations. Later on, I will be using it for game logic when possible, such as AI and special effects.
Another question.
When testing content in the engine, is it better to use a standard graphics card or a workstation card like ATI "FireGl" or Nvidia "Quatro" cards? I'm wondering if there is better performance with a workstation card.
Thanks again,

Re: Multi-processing?
I would imagine that a better graphics card would sequel better performance in the end, but what the alpha's compatibility for that is right now I don't know.
