Overgrowth Custom Animations

Post by Altair44 » Mon Jun 28, 2010 12:18 am

Available for download!

Animations that have been changed:
- The tugged in pose (made hands on thighs)
- The run animation (turned into jogging)
- The walk animation (It's not really possible, but I made it more Altair-ish)
- The Wallrunning (It's more Prince of Persia style, if you don't like it, I suggest you delete that file ammediately)
- Jumping Down ( The body moves a lot more realistic)
- The Sneak (It's a bit weird, but it's a lot better than the last one.)
- Kicking (It's a beta, and it's a bit weird, I suggest you delete that one.)
- The idling (He's a bit more active, but does the same thing, you should try it out.)

Animation Pack 2:

Available for release!

Q. So whats new in this animation pack Altair44?
A. New and BETTER kicking.
A2. Idling is better.
A3. Flying is now there. (It's not scripted. So it's free for any scripter to put in.)
A4. Punching is added. (Again, it's not scripted so it's free for any scripter)
A5. Robbert Rabbit Run (It's like from Lugaru, like when turner does his natural rabbit run? If you want it enabled, just rename the run1.anm to run.anm and move your regular run animation)
Q2. Is the sneaking added?
A. Sadly not. I forgot to save the new animation

Thanks for downloading!

The FPS is a bit laggy in there. I got the same commentary on my own custom OG animation video. :D I didn't even really notice it before it was pointed out, but looking at it from the other side of the screen, it really is quite obvious. When you're trying to judge the quality of animation it's really easy to notice that the video is a bit jerky... Any way, don't worry about that, what I could see looks great.

It's a pity you didn't replace the wall-hanging animation, I think that's the one that most needs updating. I'm afraid I won't be trying these out, I haven't even tested OG in weeks. :( Still nice to know someone's still using the tools! Have you decided what you're going to animate next?

I actually did change it. He's feet is now on the wall now.

And the next in my pack:

- Punching (Probably something that should have been added before...)
- Flying (it's a bit buggy, but still cool to use.)
- Sneaking (It's different now, alot better than Robbert looking like he's scratching when hes sneaking.)
- Idling (Seriously better.)

Thats all now.

Sounds good! How much scripting do you know? Depending on how much of the "am I touching a wall" code is open, semi-automatic climbing might be possible.

Oh, so you haven't tested the attack animations, or flying, in the actual game yet?

The punches seem to be lacking "weight", as if the arms were doing the majority of the movement. The power is generated through the hips and legs. The kick looked better. Did you look at any references while doing those? This guy demonstrates various techniques before a camera, mostly kicking but could still be useful:
