The Inferno

Post by key2van » Wed Dec 08, 2010 7:18 pm

Alright guys, this is my 4th level, it's called The Inferno.
The level is named after a poem by Dante Alighieri, which was written in the 1300's. This is a rough version, and the final will be presented in a video alongside 2 other levels i created.
Basically in The Inferno there are 8 circles of hell, and the forest circle you are viewing is the first circle, "Limbo". In this circle, those that denied the existence of God were forced to wander the forests for all of eternity. Just a brief history lesson  .
Credit goes to Silverfish for modelling the circles of hell (donut-looking things). I will probably add more vegetation to the first circle, but due to low framerate, i can't at the moment.

Why is it that the only cantica of that poem anyone is ever really interested in is the Inferno? no one cares about Purgatorio or Paradiso anymore. still I'm all for hell and all that being cool.

I miss playing marathon sometimes, I used to make tons of secret filled levels for that game.

Look at you being such a hipster, rejecting things because they're popular. That's so cute. :P

Or maybe he's just a fan of the other works?

As for me, I have noooo idea what any of you are on about, is it anything to do with Dante's inferno, not the game?

Well, Dante's Divine Comedy is evenly split into three parts, of which Inferno is one (and the first). Purgatorio and Paradiso are the other two, dealing with Purgatory and Heaven respectively, but everyone forgets that.

But the game "Dante's Inferno" is based off of "The Inferno" by Dante Alighieri

I'm not rejecting it, it's way cooler than the other ones, I'm just curious why everyone thinks that. xD

I am a hipster, and I like the inferno. I was into overgrowth until it got so big.

But anyway, WOAH did you do the fire with the particle effects we saw before? How did you modify the terrain? WHaaaaa?
Cool, though it just looks like a big pit. With fire.
